What's worth more - money or your team winning!

Chances are MURRAY will not be champion this year at W.........Too many top players to face and pressure still must be enormous. I'd like to see him win though....provided he deserves to.

As for money......it probably depends how desperate you are  if you lose.

I lost on SCOTLAND game recently against CROATIA........as I believed they might be ahead at HT....then DRAW or LOSE 2nd half. They held on due to home team being pathetic rather than SCOTLAND being "great" 2nd half. Lost over £200 ......but as SCOTLAND won that softened the HIT.

As was "happy" with my initial belief that SCOTLAND might be ahead at HT and bets made.......then generally the position at HT would normally be a winning bet on them losing 2nd half....

SCOTLAND just not capable of playing to level of football needed to rely on them winning games.

MURRAY is capable of winning W........so would not lay him early on to win.....better to back then decide on tougher matches later on how you want to play it IMO.

Hoping you lose that bet S123.........as MURRAY is doing remarkably well in tennis....and good to have a home born champion in sport.

id rather win money, nothing wrong there.

There's been a few developments since I started this. I'll be happy if Murray wins because some bookies will refund my losing bets if he does!

My mate says he's a big Liverpool fan. One Sunday afternoon during a game I asked him how much they were worth to him. At first it seemed a lot till I put £2 on the table and asked if he'd take it for them to lose. He started smiling and it didn't take long before I realised that he'd have taken the money!!!

There were several people I knew that backed Germany to beat England in the 2010 World Cup. They were so worried about England losing that they wanted something out of it. Me too!

Murray will be playing for himself. If you have a bet you are doing the same.

I get really frustrated sometimes cos I've bet on a player etc. and they've kinda given up. I'm like... "No! Don't give up, I've got money on you!"

The only team I don't bet on is the team I support, either

The above is true, BUT when a stand out bet appears it's normally when you have serious injury problems and are playing well worse than your results.  I only bet against my team Stevenage once as I don't want the conflict of interest... when we were in total disarray, suddenly started playing abysmally after Mark Stimson walked out and taking 4 of our best 7 players, and the hopeless Peter Taylor took over and made the most bizarre selection decisions to weaken the team even further.  Exeter away in the FA Cup, who were one of the better teams in The Conference and they were 6/4!!  Stevenage went down there and got thumped 4-0.  It was such good odds I couldn't pass it up.

For me it would be based on a sliding scale of reward to offset the disappointment.

At the extreme end, England losing a world cup final for example - I would need to be winning a very large amount on their opponents to balance this out.  In fact in all probability I would probably have to lay off to avoid the pang of guilt of being ambivalent to the outcome.

At the other end, you're looking at fairly trivial sums to offset the mild disappointment of losing a game that matters not.

theres comfort betting too..a few seasons ago sunderland had a small chance of being relegated on the final day, but they had to lose and two others had to win, the treble came to about 220/1, so i stuck 50 quid on, meaning a consolation of 11 grand if the worst happened...i would gladly cough up 50 quid to guarantee safety if offered the chance so it was money well spent, and meant the last day stress was taken away

i think thats a different kind of bet,

you cant buy safety for your team !

Money, no question, though when I bet on 'my team' I rarely bet in the outright match betting market...I usually bet on goals so if I'm on overs for example then my team suffering a 2-1 loss is perfectly acceptable.

donny i suppose more importantly, at what financial level, do you actually not mind the bet winning?
