the word legend is over used, but in henry cecils case, he was a true legend

Life is but a blink of an eyelid. Henry made good use of that blink. He will never be forgotten in the racing world.

It is very sad.
Whenever I saw him interviewed, he was always gracious and polite. Remember seeing Thommo interview Pat Phoenix (elsie tanner) in the unsaddling enclosure when she had a share in a horse and Cecil was in the background with his back to the camera talking to some owners. Thommo said -well, Pat, Henry Cecil's just behind you, blah, blah, blah. And the great man promptly turned round for an impromptu chat. I think he probably didn't know who she was but he was absolutely charming! |
