Vettal wins the Malaysian Formula One race, but his team manager, had ordered him to finish second to his team mate.

This is not my sport from a betting point of view,so I am assuming that there is betting on who wins the race.
But how can this be right, when team managers can order drivers NOT to win
BETFAIR SHOULD ONLY ALLOW BETTING ON WHICH TEAM WINS THE RACE?.

Yep - this is a 'sport' that money totally controls

I dont know whats in their governing bodies rules re the above, but suffice to say that they only hand out meaningless fines for even the most major misdemeanor.

The GC should involve itself in this 'unfair' betting event - but dont hold your breath!

To be a fan of this sport is one thing - to bet on it (unless your the conspirator) qualifies you for a place in Rampton

in the age of being able to bet on pre arranged rehearsed wrestling bouts, nothing should surprise us

It happens in cycling as well.  Not uncommon that cyclists in a breakaway make some kind of deals even if they represent different teams.

i suppose it could cover a few more sports...pace makers in long distance track athletics and horse racing

You have to understand what you are betting on, it's simple.

This OP is getting a nomination from me for the most ridiculous opening post in the Betfair 2013  general forum awards.  It beats, by a very short nose, the one about the feeling you get when an injury time goal goes in with a mis-weighted pass to the keeper.

It doesn't even make sense anyway as he says betfair should only allow betting on which team wins a race, but exactly the same can occur. A driver could be in second behind a rival team but still be told to hang back and look after his car and not try to catch the bloke in front.
