Yep - this is a 'sport' that money totally controls
I dont know whats in their governing bodies rules re the above, but suffice to say that they only hand out meaningless fines for even the most major misdemeanor. The GC should involve itself in this 'unfair' betting event - but dont hold your breath! It happens in cycling as well. Not uncommon that cyclists in a breakaway make some kind of deals even if they represent different teams.

This OP is getting a nomination from me for the most ridiculous opening post in the Betfair 2013 general forum awards. It beats, by a very short nose, the one about the feeling you get when an injury time goal goes in with a mis-weighted pass to the keeper. |

It doesn't even make sense anyway as he says betfair should only allow betting on which team wins a race, but exactly the same can occur. A driver could be in second behind a rival team but still be told to hang back and look after his car and not try to catch the bloke in front.
