I will run this years thread from here as there seems to be less idiots here, will start first day of the flat. Some suggestions from last year..
1. only horses placed over c&d
2. must have been at least placed off current mark.
3. 8/1 or more.....??????
4. maximum 3 bets per day
There were more suggestions but I think we will be heading to something like the 10pt system where we awarded 10pts to trainer/stable/jockey and course & distance winner ect.. ect. My thoughts are if it ain't broke don't fix it but I do realise we lost almost half the bank in august last year but thats gambling folks. If anyone wants to suggest any changes, stick them below.

It sounds as if you're going to be betting horses whose hcap marks have been managed so they get back down to a winning mark on the days when the handbrake the finally released.
I don't know if it worked last time, but I'd have thought that a trading system for horses on similar or lower marks from the same yards wd have more bets i.e. smooth results and yield comparable returns.
You may have a temperament where you can lose half of your bank, but more conservative betting styles depend on deploying all of your bank and trading / arbing / bookmaking to ride out variations.

How can you follow the rules when one of them relates to price? What happens when horses drift/shorten past your target 8/1?
yeah vis thats a problem but we usually take it on the chin if it drifts we stick with it and if it shortens well tough luck if you are not on before the money came for it. There are about 30 of us and the points above for last year are prices we took from the high street bookmakers when the horse was given.

No problem Burton so long as everyone knows the selections are just fancies, any horses we get info on I will let people know we got some info on it. As said earlier on the thread there are about 30 of us and at least you will get the price on the horses we give out,althrough we only do the flat we already have three bets for cheltenham mid january just for the interest.We normally have our first bets the 1st of April.

jerry I am not really interested in doing this for a whole season but I will try dig up the system from somewhere and post up here.
It sounds to me as you will stand or fall by the quality of your information.
If there are lots of you and you can be sure to get the price, then the only thing standing in your way is non-triers.

no askari our info bets are very few, we mainly back in 12 + runner handicaps so its a guessing game whether they are off or not but last seven years have been good to us.
it looks like hinterland is doubtful for the grand annual chase but the other two are looking ok for their races.

Value, them guys that own that pub fell out with that outfit last year and I would treat any info they get from them with extreme caution, btw just take a look at johnsons next 5 runners after your info they finished 22112 and they heard nothing but as I said before they did get good info last few years but they have worn their welcome out with that crowd.
Also like to say I am looking forward to this year and if there is one rule I feel we should have stuck with was we should have backed the horses that lost the next time out, just look at the horses that won next time out after we backed them.

4.30 CHEVAL ROUGE 66/1 and DOUGAL PHILIPS 14/1 both met some criteria but not enough for a bet so watching brief for us today.

just my opinion value but there is surely some decent ones in the flat between 5/1 and 7/1,that you might regret not backing win only.
yeah mepoor we will be backing some in that price bracket. I think our problem is there are too many of us now putting our tuppence worth in on rules or stats we should stick to so we have decided on about 4 changes, we will run with it now and see what happens.

this horse has raced twice at southwell and bumped into two horses that handle that course very well, his last race he was beaten 4.5L by his stable mate HONEST DEAL who's own record at southwell is raced 5 times finishing 22421.
the only other time he raced at southwell he was 2nd to stouty's SPEED DATING who's own record at the track is 212.
the only doubt about this horse is the distance 1m6f therefore like sunday it will be a watch and learn exercise.
I would like to also state why Chavel Rouge was not a bet on sunday.
She had a bad record 1st time out each season however she had somethings in her favor like the jockey riding near his minimum weight, running well on desperate ground and the stable targeting a competitive handicap for the first run of the season, but we dicided her record 1st time out was just not good enough to have a bet and kudos to some who said surely it was worth taking the chance on her at 50/1 but we did what we did.

This gelding has raced 13 times and only won twice however I am more interested in his record at kempton than his overall profile.He has raced three times at kempton finishing 2nd 1st 2nd, his win coming over Saturdays course and distance 1m3f. He first raced at kempton in 2011 where he came 2nd to Ivan vasilevich who was rated 77 Ivan only raced 3 times at kempton winning 2 and finishing 8th. He went on to be rated a 90 horse that year.
Spifer did not come back to kempton until 19 months later where he beat Graylami by a sh giving him 7LB over saturdays C&D. Graylami has not raced since however the 3rd horse won his next race, also the last horse Aquilonius who was beaten 14L raced 5 times since finishing 8th 1st 3rd 3rd 2nd so its turning out to be a nice little race. Spifer then had an almost two month break before he raced again, surprise surprise at kempton again where he was beaten 1/4L by ROBINHOODS BAY receiving 8LB. You could be forgiven for thinking spifer was put in his place and thats the end of that however ROBINHOODS BAY CAME OUT JUST 10 DAYS LATER AND WAS BEATEN 1/2L BY THE FAVORITE FARRAAJ IN THE LINGFIELD WINTER DERBY, A GROUP 3 RACE YES A GROUP 3 RACE. ROBINHOODS BAY IS NOW RATED 101 AND FARRAAJ IS RATED 108 THIS PUTS SPIFER IN A REALLY NICE POSITION FOR SATURDAYS RACE. ALSO FAARAAJ'S JOCKEY WILL HAVE THE CHOICE OF RIDING SPIFER SO ANY MONEY FOR THIS HORSE EARLY IN THE WEEK WILL MEAN THE STABLE THINKS AS I DO ITS AHEAD OF THE HANDICAPPER.

depends on the price for me I will only back a horse e/w if there is a profit if he is placed 6/1 or more
