My son has been invited to a group I message chat and is getting "78 messages in the last half hour"  It is doing his head in and none of him or his friends can get themselves out of the group.  Anyone know how or if it can be done?  It's an Iphone 4S if that is relevant.

Thanks for your replies guys.  The solution to turn off group messaging is what he's done.  The problem is I think he cant turn it back on without still being a member of this group, effectively rendering the facility redundant.  There are 3 girls in this big group who keep sending inane group texts and unless they start a new group for just the 3 of them everyone else in the group keeps getting all their texts too.  They seem to be enjoying irritating everyone else in the group and are refusing to do so.  Bit like a nuisance phone call where the only solution is to turn off your phone.

sorry clydebank, i don't use it but having a quick look on some of the forums it did appear that plenty of people have the same problem

the best advice i can see is that there should be a group of names created in the stored contacts or address book which needs to be deleted

just turning off messaging doesn't alway cure it and as you know turning it back on brings that group back into play anyway

can't help any further, someone else may know exactly what to do
