I just ask as I met some scandinavian guys at a Betfair hosted event and they were completely oblivious to the premium charge

Your Scandinavian friends must be losers.

That's the easiest way to avoid PC ... be a loser.

It works for me Cry

.....or alternatively very large market makers which the PC was designed not to hit

Yes they were Swedish. It's not the fact they have never been charged PC, it's more the fact they had never even heard of it. The guy from Betfair actually said he thought the PC was UK only which I was astounded at!

Just another proof of ignorant Betfair staff.

Some are beating around the bush here.  Did they have anything to do with this mob?

I'm assuming they'd have at least heard of the PC, but they get special treatment and don't pay PC as we do.

niglepm1, here's an example: http://www.bettingpromotion.se/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=1&Itemid=10&lang=en

Also interesting to note their share price is just 1/4 of what it was five years ago, although there could be a whole host of reasons why this is.

As far as I know they were just regular punters who were there just like me. And to make it clear.... they had never heard of PC.... I'm not talking about the various loopholes or any kind of waiver.

In case you British bird brains haven't worked out why the Swedish folk havent heard of the PC charge
it just might be because the Premium Charge only effects members that make profits from core sports
and not poker or casino as our foreign friends are probably poker players, I forgive the Presidate for
making this obvious mistake as I understand he shines with less candles but drips his wax everywhere he goes....

For one.... to have won those NBA tickets you would have to have been betting on American sports at the very least. Secondly, these guys mainly bet on football. There's no real sense in them not having heard of PC, I guess this is why I'm so surprised!

The PC doesn't hit BFs large market makers as they have a massive turnover and work to very small margins and pay a large %age in profits on commission even at 2%.  They designed the charge so as not to frighten these players off who are crucial to the site.
