Have you done it tommy, and if so were there any pitfalls. The way I see it is the bookies will only want the "mugs" who will lose in the long run, if they suss I am only in it to make a profit then go. will they make winning payments difficult.

How do they know if you are guaranteeing profits

Yes, Cheltenham is a great time to do it as that is when the bookies offers are the best in terms of free bets and you will also get a load of concessions such as best odds, extra place terms, money back if second in race and the usual PP one on first day of money back if hotpot X wins race.
Personally, if I had a new set of accounts to use, I wouldn't bother laying off on here. I'd just place the initial stakes and free bets on fancies and expect to hit a couple of winners along the way.

There are a few forums out there (moneysaving expert for example) with advice on how to do this, tread carefully though and perhaps take what you read with a small pinch of salt. It really is worth waiting to Cheltenham if you are planning to do this, the bookies will be falling over themselves with offers to tempt you in. Good luck.

Think what I will do is spread it out over a few months, as soon as someone gives a good offer I will take it up.
Probably start King George day with a smaller bookie to test the water. Then build to Cheltenham and Aintree.

Because they don't return stakes, freebets are best used on longer prices eg £10 freebet on even money will win 50% of the time so expected return .5 x £10 = £5 -- £10 freebet on 9-1 shot will win 10% of the time so expected return is .1 x £90 = £9.
Obviously the difficulty is finding longer price that represent close to true value.

Another tip GGR if you are doing it and laying off on BF always make sure you have confirmed the bet with the bookies. This sounds simple enough but if you are going hell for leather on day 1 at Chelts then you can easily miss hitting a confirmation button and end up with no bet at the bookies and a matched lay on the winner...

Oh, and to answer another point if you have genuinely never had any online accounts from your address (or on your PC) before then you will have no issue of falling foul of that t&c you are worried about. Stick to the mainstream books though and be v careful with SportingBet as they have a history of not crediting free & bonus bets.

Not really a hell for leather sort of person, will open accounts one at a time and creep along slowly.
If it does work will get my non gambling brother, (never had a bet in his life), to do the same.

Usually the value of the freebet matches your first actual bet. So, if you gamble £50 and lay it off on betfair you will probably be around £5 down on that deal. Then your free £50 bet will get you around £25 profit on average. So all that opening the account, placing bookie and betfair bets, then closing accounts again nets you £15 - £20 a time. Sorry, not worth the time in my book.

I don't use bookies but have accounts, and they send me 100% match up offers from time to time. I can't be bothered to arb it off on BF so I usually put the lot on around an evens shot, win or lose it's great value.
If you're not a gambler though and are just in it for the guaranteed profits then arbing off on BF would be the way to go for stress free returns.

its best with the best odds guaranteed firms, i didnt bother for less than 50, most ere 100 when i was doing it on multiple cards, id use my 2 cards, then report them lost, and do the rounds again, they never once renaged, maybe different now tho, lay odds of around 4s 3/1 are best early doors, as they move out[drift] and add xtra arb.
example
paddy p. free 100 match first bet
back 100 plus 100 freebet at 3/1 = return win 700 = 600 nett
lay 180 at 4s = return 171
result bookie back win = 60 nett profit result bookie back lose = 71 nett profit
horse drifts to 9/2
result bookie back win = 95 nett profit result bookie back lose = 96 nett profit

bytheway they were always phone accounts and i would click the submit tab on bf to take the lay, as soon as the bet was read back and confirmed to me by the operator.
