after opening my account completing the kyc in early 2010 and with over £35k of deposits and withdrawals leaving with me aprox £0 profit and loss, I opened a new account with my same details and used a different card to deposit with to try a separate system, deposited money and left, went back to my original account placed aprox 20 x £50 backs on the place market with an automated 20 tick lay at shorter price using " geeks toy "went away for my dinner came back at about 3.00 went to place a bet on my new account and it came up account suspended, contact help desk, rang them and they said it is for kyc, which would have been ok except I have already done it on my other account, 2yrs ago, I asked if they could not use those kyc details because they were the same they said no, so I thought ok fair enough I will send them in, then the gentleman kindly told me, oh we have suspended your other account too, I told the guy it was a bit stupid but he wanted kyc repeated for my other account, send one lot of kyc in and we will use it for both accounts, which is a bit daft when they wont use the kyc I have already done, put phone down and then realised that I had back bets on with conditional lays which would not be allowed to put on, so to cut a long story short by the time I got back through to them and a temporary stay of account suspension it cost me 5 x £50 bets that could not be laid back so a total of £250 what will Betfair refund me £0 they say because it is compliance procedure and they have found an account linked to my address but not me with a self exclusion on it, I have lived here 3 yrs and plenty of people lived here previously, it would not of been so bad if Betfair had emailed or phoned me saying in 15 mins we are going to suspend you account, it would have given me time to put some lays in and cover myself, now I know about kyc and agree with it, but I have done it, because someone has excluded themselves from my address should not be my problem, what I want to know is that because I have traded with Betfair for two yrs surely it means we have some sort of " contract " between us both ways and I think the way they have handled it stinks Any thought anybody please, is it worth writing to someone about it or am I wasting my time, it's a matter of principle rather than the money
