Talk about if it ain't broke.........

So I really am trying the new site but it just feels like a step back each way you turn.

The latest thing I have noticed is the display of bets on a large long term market e.g. I have loads of bets up both backs and lays on the Super Bowl.  So last night when I wanted to cancel my Pittsburgh backs and lays before they played I had to read through my whole list of bets to make sure I hadn't missed any.

On this new site all your bets are listed in some random order.  They could be anywhere. On the old site the bets are all grouped together in the same order the teams show on the market eg Houston at the top all the way down to Cleveland at the bottom. Thus to amend and cancel a set of bets on one team is very easy as all the bets are listed together on the same part of your screen.

It really does look like they have had no actual users test this new interface at any stage.

That would really be inexplicable if true.

This is one of the main reason why I cannot even consider using the newer site.

be well good if they had the sort of interface b365 have, the multi add event, very good for inplay and checking scores

The problem Betfair had was they were rushing to get fixed odds site out and in the process ended up with an unusable new exchange site and a fixed odds site that is miles behind the likes of bet865.

Something else was nagging me about that screen display and I have just realised what it is.

On the new joke site "At In Play" is in bold whilst the team name isn't, making it even harder to pick out your bets when scrolling through a list.

Hadn't used it for over a month, but I had a go yesterday.
It's still a disaster for in-running.
Harder to adjust prices
Matched bets look unmatched
Unmatched bets look matched
Cancel button far too small
Take button too close to the refresh
and many more
It's easier to get to a market, but that is the only good point.

One Simple Thing The New Site Doesn't Do

- work properly.
Report swift-tuttle October 17, 2012 5:49 PM BST
the really annoying thing is that we just know they are thinking to themselves

"We can ride this out, they'll come around to it eventually, if they have to"

and that's what it comes down to, if they withdraw the old site would the new site be so disagreeable that large numbers would leave the exchange?

or is the answer that everyone uses something like gruss?

unusable for inplay trading.
boxes for changing prices and cancel bets are much too small.
you cant cancel with 1 click. you have to click the tiny cross and than click update. this costs time. at inplay tennis you dont have time.
but of course the new site is not made to make the customers better traders, but to attract more mugs who will do multiples and use the cash out function.

best for trading is the original site. many ppl wont know how to get there: choose the "old" site and open the desired market. at "Rules" you find "Linking directly to this market": Copy and paste this to the adress bar and add "&mv=classic". thats all. now you have the original interface, which betfair made the most successful exchange.

What TheVis says is also the reason why I click revert to old site. Would likely completely move off Betfair and stick to the alternatives if they remove old version completely.

My gut says the previous version will stay.  Sort of a 'betfair lite' in their view.

But can't believe with all the resources they have they can't build the 'next generation'.

If I remember correctly the way these things work is that the functionality that has been designed is tested. So OP's and anyone elses useability considerations wouldn't be tested.  This methodology avoids anyone in the organisation being blamed.
