I've noticed from time to time that correct score markets do not seem to get suspended, just reset without that red "SUSPENDED".

In itself not a big problem, but i've experienced sometimes if I make a bet with a 10 sec delay a goal is scored during those 10 secs, the bet will still go through! Happened to me just now in a serie B game, thankfully was able to cancel the bet a milisecond before a bot swooped to cash in. Other times i've not been so lucky.

Friday, I had a pretty large sum unmatched on the under 1.5 goals in a game. It was a non-event and extremely little activity.
Anyhow, I noticed the match bet was suspended on bet365 and switched over to the u 1.5 goals market on betfair, where to my horror i could see my bet being taken right before my eyes! No suspension, just a reset but of course after my whole stake was swooped away. At a price no sane person would take unless of course he knew there had been a goal.

Sent an email to betfair, but they deny any wrongdoing claiming the goal was scored the same second as my bet was taken. Pretty pissed about this, as I know im right. Have had suspeicions before too, but never saw it happen right before my blue eyes!

Anyone experienced similar stuff?

If verminfair themselves didn't take the bet it will have been one of their 40-60% franchises.

Racing Club v Estudiantes, first goal - market NOT SUSPENDED, just automatically reopened when the goal was scored.

The market will be suspended if it appears that a goal has been scored, a penalty will be given, or a red card will be shown.

Breaking their own rules here.

Perhaps you just missed the suspension because of refresh times?

It's the spanish footy games you need to look out for where sometimes people can get their bets on before the market even suspends.

It wouldn't remotely hard for someone who's an API buff and who likes data charges to prove all this by strobing the suspend status on risky matches and logging it as proof. Any takers? :)

Well, when it's happened to me Betfair did refund. Except at the end of a match, Betfair won't refund if you get hoovered there. I remember a superbowl match where the markets were open for about 40 seconds after the whole things was over.

There was another situation a  few years ago: I used to trade without actually watching the match. I was doing the Total Goals markets in football. Now sometimes when a goal was scored, the screen wouldn't update, no suspend sign, prices not removed nothing, even if you hit the refresh button. So a couple of times, I placed bets after a goal had been scored, not knowing it had been scored. That was an annoying bug if ever there was one! Of course no chance of getting money back when that happens.

Recently I was running a really simple in-play bot on football markets. It worked entirely on the in-play betting odds and no other information. I gave up on it because it just wasn't working very well - overall it was making a small loss. Its bets would have been just the kind that would have fallen foul of late suspensions.

Anyway, I just decided to take another look at the results, splitting them up into countries/leagues, and there are some big differences. In particular, the biggest losses were in *Spanish* matches, closely followed by Brazilian, Ukrainian and Dutch. English football matches showed a profit! Maybe I should turn the bot back on and tell it to avoid particular countries...

(n.b. These results might not be reliable, meaningful or even statistically sound in any way. They are from the results of 11,046 matched bets from about 40 days of football matches, match odds markets. It's just interesting that U.A. mentioned the spanish football and it turns out to be the worst)

There's been quite a lot of talk about this subject area on the forums all of a sudden??

Suspend should stop a bet before the suspend getting taken and I've seen my bets blocked by suspend, BUT .. if all these reports of very very short suspend periods are correct, is it possible that the bet might count down to be taken AFTER the unsuspend? That could easily happen with e.g. an inplay delay timer of 8 seconds and a suspend for 5, where suspend happened in the "middle"?

If the suspend periods are now so short they can be shorter than the countdown / delay period, that might be a recipe for BF users to lose when they though they were protected, but now aren't?

You should NOT in an inplay match be able to place a bet that gets taken because between you kicking the timer off and it counting down, say a goal has went in and the unsuspend beats the inplay delay timer (that you can't stop either).

I wonder, do betfair have the mechanism in place so that any bet queued to be taken inplay are also cancelled with the unmatched bets already there? You'd HOPE so but...? It would be nice if betfair could confirm this is the case!

Good point Just Checking! That could be the problem.

Tudder, are you using the website, in which case you could be seeing the suspension after the game is back in play, and inadvertently placing your bet because of the awful website refresh rate and perhaps other factors at your end? i.e. the market has suspended and reopened before you even know it's suspended.

Sounds like you were hoovered, a victim of a late suspension. Yes there are many non suspensions (I started a thread about it when it first started happening, but no interest, people didn't believe me) that instead of suspending simply wipe the odds, but if that was the case your bet would have been wiped too. I see lots of suspensionless goals but the odds have always been wiped, have never seen otherwise.

Yes of course they are cancelled too, I've never experienced otherwise, but as said above if your mechanism of receiving data and placing bets is momentarily behind the suspensionless suspend, bets will go through because the market has actually reopened. I see it every day.

I've just noticed the half-time market on La Serena v Deportes Iquique wasn't suspended on the third goal - I don't know about the other two goals. I'm not sure it was even reset. All I know is I cancelled my own money.

I've definitely had bets not get cancelled around a goal, they were placed long before the goal, and still stood there afterwards and persisted on to get matched later.  As I'm backing unders usually it doesn't cost me anything so I wasn't so bothered but it was clearly going against the rules.

I've never seen that happen Boozle, if you've definitely seen it why do you think it happens, and did you talk to BF about it? I've seen ghost bets that don't actually exist like Investor said above, but they never get matched because they're not actually there.

Also, why would backing unders mean it doesn't cost you anything, you could be asking for 2.0 when the price will reform at 2.4 after the goal?
