Are track players and the racecourse box scene on the way out and what will replace it ?

Something needs to change as the track players have squeezed the markets dry and the liquidity is at an all time low. Not much new blood coming into the game and those that have been "raped" using slower pictures have long since gone.As Betfair take their 40/50/60 % from the big players (mostly track boys) there is only one long term outcome. Betfair get the dough Laugh

Doubled think you are right but maybe many track players back enough losers to keep premium charge at a lower level. An interesting question is whether racecourses could offer live internet pics or whether the pics are exclusive to the current buyers ?

The majority of track players pay Premium charge mate

Will 4G be lower latency? Bandwidth-wise, 3g is plenty enough to load a Betfair market or place bets via an app. So adding more bandwidth really won't help much. It's only if the latency, the delays in the network, are shrunk, then it will make any difference.

Mr. Magoo what myself and most people are interested in is the delivery of live video pictures either supplied by racecourses or by individuals. I would have thought these pictures could be as fast or faster than the pictures people pay £35 a day to see at exchange shops.

If racecourses wanted to supply live pictures they wouldn't need to rely on mobile phone networks to do so.

I wonder what people will do on their own. I suppose it will be possible to send a racecourse tv picture from a smartphone to another one or i-pad.

how would they do this if they wanted to ?

Good question rcing. This gives racecourses the opportunity to do it   cheaply and have plenty of potential  customers with a quick enough connection.

are the telephoe companies offering the contracts without data limit? it would be stupid to offer super fast broadband speed and to limit your download data size.

How many seconds are exchange shops behind track players?
Report howard • September 14, 2012 11:43 AM BST
Dont know exactly but apparently turf tv not as quick as it was and ruk moved back by the same amount.

The new i phone5 looks like its got a good enough camera/ screen quality .
How many people could you "broadcast " pictures to ?

Most courses have broadband or other comms to get the pictures out to a site that can then stream them to customers. The technology to stream the pictures has been there for some time.
