It's because the french gov "banned" it, used to be able to up until about a year or 2 ago or, unfortunately the French gov got in on the creeping betting protectionism .. :(

It's a bit of a shame really, our dreams of moving to the Dordogne to spend our days half sozzled on cheap (but good) plonk making a few quid on BF merded on. You'd have to get a job there, and grinding the intense 20 hr french working week out as "obstructive paper shuffling Bureaucrat role #7" isn't for me.
