What is it with these designers of web sites regarding colours and back grounds.
With the Betfair beta site, not withstanding all the other ridiculous changes, the  back grounds and letters of selections is so indistinct. Why do we have to have light coloured back grounds overlaid by light and for want of a better word wishy washy letters for selections.
Now ATR are at it with their new jazzed up graphic changes, their betting information now comes up with a light blue background overlaid by white lettering, despite me wearing a pair of my new two for one glasses from Spec Save if my head gets any closer to the TV screen it will be lay on their new studio table.
Let me tell all you web designers now this type of colouring does not work.
I can imagine the scene in a couple of years time when a pre upgrade meeting is taking place to agree on the changes for the sake of change meeting is taking place.

Web page designer number 1 '' We need to come up with some ideas to justify our jobs''

Web page designer number 2 '' Why don't we change the backgrounds to a dark distinct colour and have light clear lettering or numbers, or a light background with dark distinct lettering or numbers ''

Web page designer number 1 '' Brilliant, that should give us plenty of work, make us seem important and secure us a big bonus ''

Well I will tell you for nothing, these insipid colours, while looking good and sexy at your powerpoint presentations, do not work in practice, and I did not need to spend three years whooping it up( sorry getting a degree) at some fanciful name changed university like the West of England University(sorry it will always be a polytechnic to me).
Well that's my Victor Meldrew moment for the day, I will now go back to counting my Gnomes in the garden which keep disappearing and sending me postcards from around the world. Anyone else feel like commenting please do, better still perhaps somebody could come on and tell me why these colour changes are necessary.

Bye

P.S. Sorry to the younger wizz kids for the spelling of colours, I know the PC spell check says it should be colors,  call me old fashioned but I prefer the more traditional COLOURS

Nothing to do with tradition.

'Color' is simply the US English spelling, 'colour' is the UK English one.

Indeed contrarian, he should change the spell checker to a proper dictioary, a UK one, and all your left pond spelling heresy will be in the past.

actually it's all down to the w3c (World Wide Web Consortium http://www.w3.org/ )for which we have much to be grateful ... if you want to specify a colour on a web page, you have to spell it 'color',  otherwise it defaults to white for the background, black for the foreground, which i guess is what Llamedos (and I quite often) would prefer, but i agree with him 100% about the colors / colours of the ATR TV racecards ... what a disaster area Sad
