depends on which sport it is. Their model is High (very high) Turnover,Low Margin. I believe they try and position themselves to be with one team by the off depnding on a) the smart action they have seen and b) their own opionion. This is certainly true with the US Sports - not sure about the others.
Their lines a few hours before the off are going to be rock solid. If Pinnacle moves - the industry moves. |

pinnacle sharper for American sports, not for football (soccer).

I believe that simply taking Betfair prices when they are out of line with pinny for things like basketball and baseball is a profitable strategy (ignoring commission). Taking football prices on pinny when they are out of line with Betfair probably doesn't work on it's own though, although I've used it successfully as a factor when placing bets there.

Betfair used to move hand in hand with Pinnacle on U.S. sports. Now the lines are quite different at times with lower liquidity on here. The big market makers have been chased out by this fact and the premium charges.

When are the Pinnacle lines the sharpest? What's the furthest time from the off - is is like Max said @ a few hours?
I just wondered if I was going to use lines to back prices when out of line at bookies, which would be more advantageous and when. I mean, I'm no stranger to this business. I largely believe the sharpest lines are minutes before the off and I was just wondering if it's worth switching to Pinnacle as it's a bit harder to monitor than BF, IMO. Unless there's a program of some kind. |

I only back in the bigger games, no asian handicap on dutch handball etc. Should keep me going for a while, no?

How sharp are pinny lines in play for NBA, NFL and MLB? Are the pinny lines with higher limits usually sharper than the lower limit lines?

Pinny lines in-play are surprisingly not that sharp at all in my experience.

RAPS, are you talking about in play lines on american sports or european? Makes little sense that they offer these huge limits and don't suppress winning customers for in play prices that aren't sharp.

Robespierre, they don`t take more than a few K at a time in-play on anything - American sports included (Superbowl & a few others excepted).
The big limits dry up when the game starts - no wonder as their prices can be all over the shop. They are usually close to BF prices in the more liquid mkts. like NFL & NBA. I suggest you have a look and make up your own mind. |

RAPS, they offer five figure limits on in play quite often, esp on the handicaps. Limits are lower than before the off but they are industry leading limits for in play.

But, they can always REFUSE your bet in-play (by changing the line) , stuff they don't do before the off.

rink rat, you are suggesting that for sharp players they move the line between submission and acceptance of the bet, and for mugs they just accept the bet? I have never seen that alleged of pinny anywhere.

Happens very often in-play. But with the tight margins you've got to expect the price to move - nothing dodgy about it imo
The only criticism I'd have of them is that when a bet gets refused it takes a long time to submit another bet. |

rink rat, looks like those prices moved because another player beat you to it, not because pinny saw your bet and decided to move the line instead of filling your order.
