I get your point, but if you pick carefully horses that have no form , havent run in ages or a trainer bang out of form its possible to hit a good run, thats why im asking my mates here is it worth while or just a waste of time? As for laying correct scores thats like walking through a minefield, the 2 1 to madrid finished me off the other night.

What do you call "FORM"?
By:
Did CHINA ROCK have "FORM" on its last 6 races ? (Ceratinly in past it had....but do you dig deep into horse's record breeding etc etc
By:
4P-4584 China Rock
Would you have layed that one? |
By:
Market had it as outsider in race.....Would you have layed it?
By:
funnily enough you picked a horse that ive backed nearly everytime its run and missed the yoke today, I had 50 on it at leopardstown in the hennessy and had it backed the other day. Didnt see a paper today as i was in hospital visiting so i probably would have backed it if i saw it. But I get your point.

By:
YUP - it was worth a back ....at 36s today was obtainable....probably layed higher than that though!
You really need to be exceptionally "good" to lay at such odds..... of course you can get a good run laying .....but is it LUCK...? |
By:
what markets do you suggest so?
By:
If you are very "good", then laying at short end of market is "best"...IMO.
By:
you mean 3rd 4th favs? 4/1 to 10/1 range or favs

=========================================================== LAYING 2-1 before the KO would be at high odds.......IMO....aiming lays at SHORTER ODDS is where to operate with CS LAYS. 2-1 was a "tempting" lay for me in that game when IP.....but the danger is that REAL MADRID would just play in "fear" if score went to 2-1......and that is how game panned out. 0-0 was a far better lay 0-1 was good lay 1-0 was a dodgy lay 1-1 was a good lay... 2-1 ....was a DODGY lay.....( same score as 1st leg....as you know) FOOTBALL is still a guessing game for me.....but better to GENERALLY target shorter odds....provided you have good reason for laying a CS...... |

Ernie & Bert
28 Apr 12 21:08 I get your point, but if you pick carefully horses that have no form , havent run in ages or a trainer bang out of form its possible to hit a good run, thats why im asking my mates here is it worth while or just a waste of time? As for laying correct scores thats like walking through a minefield, the 2 1 to madrid finished me off the other night. A mate of mine laid Cerium the other day. It hadn't won for years. |

By:
BTW Ernie & Bert ....I took 3 HITS today and lost just over £1,150 on those HITS. Luckily the loss was £332.64 net by end of day.....
One HIT was DRIVE TIME ...where MULLINS had 2in finish and the lay won.... It was a "lazy" lay on that race....as was one of my other HITS ( I just get some days where mind not focused 100% on a race....and a lazy bet done.... Always a "problem" when trainer shave more than 1 in race....and PUNCHESTOWN was loaded with races like that.... I'm still up about £1,000 though for last 7 days....just ad-libbing without system......but I use a combination of BACKING some in race and usually do a LAY as well where I believe I have an edge on race.... If was using system, then LAYS would be mainly from top 3/4/5 in market....depending on the odds and RANKING in ratings for a race etc....A FAR MORE DISCIPLINED APPROACH IS NEEDED WHEN TACKING SHORTER ODDS LAYS.... |

Thats interesting, best of luck with your endeavours!
By the way in madrid game, I laid 0 0 ht then laid 1 0 correct score and then 1 1 then 2 1, as per usual I got greedy! Not knowing when to quit is a problem for me in some games. Went from being in a strong position to a disaster! |
By:
The very first time I tried laying long odds horses I was matched on a 60 shot and it won (no kidding)!
That was the end of that strategy, as I didn't fancy my chances of winning the next 59 on the trot, and plus another few to cover commission! |
By:
I laid a 210 shot at Wolves once (pre race) and that won, as the price on here plummeted to 9....8....5....3....1.8....1.01 felt like a slow death

DFC - Munich for me to lift the Champions League cup.

By:
tried it once. one bad pick kills you
By:
YEAH IM DONE WITH IT ALL. LOSING TOO MUCH ON HERE. SOCCER BETTING HAS FINISHED ME OFF ONCE AND FOR ALL TODAY.
Goodbye and good luck. |
By:
Eh, I think long term it's irrelevant as you should get close to break even minus comms.
If you're being very selective then you had better be very good because if not you're either going to make peanuts or lose a small fortune. |
By:
Yeah, can make regular profits with this type of strategy....regularly lay 12 or 15 losers in a row...of course, then you will lay a winner at 20s or 25s but just take it on the chin and dont go on tilt and you'll be ok...another 15 winning lays before you next take a hit.
By:
i did about 40 in a row then went bust
By:
It used to be easy in the good old days when the books were wide. You could lay at 25-1 when the bookmakers were offering 20-1 with true odds of 33-1.

DON'T DO IT.
End of thread! |
