If you lay a bet at odds of 1.7  (risking £10 ) to win £14.28

is there a way to calculate what you need the back odds to move out to, to win 50% of your liability?

Now I know the odds need to rise to 2.62 (Chromaweb) but I would like to know if there is a formula to do this?

Cheers

SquirrelJ,

Example 1
Let:
P = 0.50
H = 1.70
T = 14.28

Then:
S = (T-(P*((H-1)*T))) = 2.62
O = (H/(P-(P*H)+1)) = 9.28

Example 2
Let:
P = 0.50
H = 1.75
T = 20.00

Then:
S = (T-(P*((H-1)*T))) = 2.80
O = (H/(P-(P*H)+1)) = 12.50

Re. Example 2 - Assuming you've worked on the OP's original £10 liabilty figure, if H = 1.75 wouldn't T = 13.33?

Alternatively, if T = 20.00 wouldn't H = 1.50?

(S+L)/(S-5)

24.28/9.28 = 2.62
