Betfair Customer Services     05 Mar 12 12:37
Betfair has launched a new web tool enabling users to view the Exchange prices and place bets on Betfair while browsing the websites of its competitors.

‘Betfair Everywhere’ is a Google Chrome extension which uses keyword technology to overlay Betfair’s odds on the websites of its competition. The add-on will also allow users to view Betfair odds and place bets while surfing other selected sports content websites.

To install the Betfair Everywhere tool go to: promotions.betfair.com/betfaireverywhere

Scary privacy policy with Betfaireverywhere: "Information relating to the third party websites you have visited whilst logged into Betfair Everywhere may also be collected."

Do Betfair really want to know the websites that their users are visiting? Shocked

The tool does what anyone looking for the best price does anyway--but highlights runner names in a highly distracting yellow colour. You can change this but all the options are distracting.

Of course the tool misconstrues runner names. On the 'Winter Derby soon at Lingfield Park Fillies Hcap' the tool thinks Derby is 'Derby County' and gives you odds for their next game.

Too much to ask the boys at bf to solve the problems of the semantic web.

The effect is going to be to close down arbing loopholes more quickly and (poss.) increase traffic to bf from back-only best-price punters.

This will help the resident layers, full-bookers and people not paying pc on account of their high comm.-to-profits percentages. These liquidity providers seem to be in place, so it seems a good way of attracting bets to the site (by turning the books' price-scraping of bf against them) if it works.

Doubt there will be many takers with the privacy issues, though.

very good idea to enforce their claim of offering the best odds in the market.

Porter - as with most questions in life, just type chrome into google and it becomes very obvious. Chrome much better than IE anyway IMO
