General Betting

Checked out on line, Webley Alecto target pistol. Cheapest price £199.95, highest £229.00.
Called my local gun store two weeks ago and was quoted £159.00!
Ordered it but I was sure they must have made a mistake so was expecting excuses today.
Nope, £159.00 as quoted, so I went off looking for some pellets, and a new pellet trap, and the junior came through
and said" you get these free with the gun.
Unbelievable! Six tins of pellets worth at least £30.00 retail and a pellet trap at probably £20.00,
plus a fist full of target cards, would have been another £2.00.
Bonkers but I'm not complaining.......

I was just hoping it would fall off the bottom here. Anyway, seeing you ask, did you look at the two excellent videos. The uk legal limit for an air pistol is only 6ft lbs. I have this in .177 which is the choice for target shooting as the velocity is faster and the flight more level. All guns are tested at the factory, to verify the performance, and mine was certified, over 7 shots, at a low of 175.74 mps (first shot and a high of 178.13 mps on the sixth shot then levelling out to 176.34 mps. That is 578.54fps using Accupell 7.9gr pellets (5.87ft lbs). Two pumps still gives 524 fps which is more than adequate for target shooting (accuracy can suffer at higher velocities) and the third pump takes a lot of effort. |

Thanks Aunty Post, very details, most of which went I've my head I'm afraid as a complete newbie. I watched the videos on youtube, looks very impressive along with some awesome vids of rifles with scope (hunting birds, super slow vids!) I'll checkout your post on chit chat.

"Oh here we go". I can't imagine many people I know or would like to know who would seek out and take pleasure in watching slow motion videos of animals being killed and consider them "awesome". Maybe that's just me.

Try getting your facts straight moron. I didn't 'seek' anything out, I watched a review of said pistol and on youtube and then clicked on some of the top suggested videos on the right side of the page. I was impressed with the fact that the video was of the actual scope, ie as if I was looking through it, and the fact that one particular vid was shot with an extremely high frame rate (slow motion to you).
Some of the most AMAZING, rated and viewed TV shows show animals being killed, AND they are most likely watched by people you know! Commissioned and broadcast by the most well known TV channel of them all, The BBC, and those shows that I and millions of other people enjoy watching are or course wildlife documentaries! Once again, if you bothered reading, I didn't 'seek' anything out, I just came across it, and yes I thought it was awesome! WARNING! If I had my own gun I'd shoot my own face just for fun. The godly way is to do unto others as you would have them do to you, so I could then shoot others for fun too!
