In the Djokovic v Murray-There was in excess of 46 million traded on this match today.I am aware that the majority of this trading in and out.How much operating profit would betfair make on this iyo(exluding premium charges just commission)??

i believe on things like tennis and cricket (with alot of trading), they make about 0.7% of total traded. But dont forget anything on the "aus exchange" is a joint venture so its more like 0.25%

cant remember what it exactly is, but when i worked there, the rule banded around was that only 1/7 was actually profit. They rest is operating cost.

Thanks Mr.H,,,,,It'a very low net margin on Australian sports, maybe .036%

I guess you mean 0.36%?

I'd say that's very decent, considering it's risk free. Anything in excess of expenses incurred is worthwhile for Betfair, although they'll take more if they think they can.

No .25% is 0perating profit,Betfair work on a margin of 14% of this so,.036% net profit margin on Australian sports.

So the model that was deemed unsustainable without the introduction of Premium Charges, does magically work to a minuscule margin in Australia?

I wonder how much it would have been if the providers of the famous liquidity (aka the shell and pea boys) didn't get 7 or 8 seconds to decide whether they want the mug bets?

are you referring to cross-matching bot profit, commission profit or premium charge profit which are all more than 0.7% ?

and it could be we have a mystery  delay in-play matching bot somewhere, one can only wonder!

its not rocket science tinkering with an exchange system process to atain inside system edges that are un-visible!

the amount looks about right, marginal profiteering may seem like missing the boat but if you do enough of it repeatdly you still win in the long run by way of greater circulation which it turn creates a system that should grow organically as the last ten years as proved.
