This is a very tiresome thing which happens when i type an email or a post on here. Frequently, letters or words jump back to another position in the text. They can end up anywhere and there is no pattern or logic seemingly. I am making sure i don't touch anything to make it do this.
It seems a fairly common problem from what i have read by Googling, but have not found a solution by doing that.

It would help narrow down your problem if you gave us the following info 1. Your operating system. 2. Are you using Microsoft Office as your email? ~ if so which version. 3. Have you a certified disk of your operating system? You may need that to do a fix. 4. Have you virus protection software? Cheers. |

USB or wireless keyboard?
Or could be a stuck key. But it sounds to me a typical symptom of spyware. Download the free version of Malwarebytes. Update it first and then run a quick scan only. It is safe to remove anything highlighted in red. |

This will show up my computer ignorance! 1) I am using Windows 7 ultimate. 2) I don't have Microsoft Office installed so it can't be that and i would not know how to find out what is used for Gmail. 3) I no longer have the certified disc which came with the HP Presario when i bought it in Muscat. Lost in the move to Manila no doubt! 4) I have Avast Free Home edition. Recently i had great trouble with what was thought to be a Root Kit problem. That seems to have been rectified by my bro-in-law. This present problem however existed before he worked on the comp. I do have logs from scans done after his work, if they would be of any help. He can't help me with this however, as he is away at present. I do keep my comp squeeky clean with CCleaner and Auslogic Defragger. I also use Malwarebytes for checking when necessary. I hope this helps for a start!. Thanks again. |

Download Superantispyware and update it and do a quick scan.
It will pick up any rootkit problems. |

Another thing to try is uninstalling the version of java on your computer and reinstalling a new updated version.
Yahoo messaging and email users have reported java script issues affecting text. |

It picked up 18 threats (Adware Cookies) and deleted them. The problem is still there tho! Thanks. |

Is it a laptop? My mouse pad is very sensitive and that sometimes happens to me if I just brush it while typing.

Second attempt at a reply. Was switched over to the other Forum. I am very careful NOT to touch anything while typing. I use IE 8 but have tried Firefox without any luck and i don't like Chrome.

Try covering the mousepad with something. See if it has any effect.

Don't laugh, I have seen this too often not to bring it up.
There maybe crumbs stuck under your keypad or between the keys. |

I've seen this type of problem a couple of times.
It can be caused by static build up which interferes with the touchpad circuitry.If you disconnect the power cable and remove the battery for a few minutes then plug them in again you may find that this will give you a temporary fix. It could also be caused by the mousepad driver.Try removing the driver in control panel and then download the latest version off the HP website. The other possibility is that the touchpad is faulty.Try disabling the touchpad and use a usb mouse to see if the problem goes away. |

Ok so let's see if anything 'doesn't' happen. So far so, good but it will need a greater test than this.

If its a laptop then the touchpad is 80%+ likely to be the source of the issue.
see if you can (temporarily) disable it via the control panel-> mouse properties->Device Settings menu. |

I have disabled the touchpad and am writing this without any problems so far. I will continue to keep it off to see if that was the root of the trouble. It's very easy as there is a little button at the top of the pad for on/off.
Now, there is another problem while i am on please! I mentioned earlier that my bro-in-law was able to correct a serious virus issue. He did this by changing the setup to Windows 7 - build 7600. Being Filipino he apparently used a pirated disc to do this. (He is the IT guy at a top school in Manila)!! I now have a black screen when i start up, but fortunately with all the short cut icons down one side as normal. I also get a pop up telling me i have a Windows which is not genuine. I am given the option of doing something about it and have followed the instructions, only to get so far before it tells me it was unsuccessful. This guy (sorry, git) is away at the moment so can't help. I can tell you that if anyone is unhappy with the country in which they live, they should try the Philippines. Come back the UK, all is forgiven! First of all, can this permanently damage my laptop? If not, then i can wait until he returns and is able to do something about the screen problem. If it is dangerous, what should i do now please? Thank you to everyone who has chipped in to help me with the typing problem. I appreciate it very much. Be careful, you have a pirated disc with probably a blocked registration key.
It will start up for a while, but you'll lose your desktop background and have a genuine nag down the bottom near the clock. At some point you will be locked out completely. You have two choices. Pay online to get a genuine key emailed to you. Google SupremoPhantom for an alternative  |

You could revert to using the original version of windows that was installed.
The idea of giving Microsoft another £80 once you've already paid once never did appeal. HP and most other manufacturers don't supply windows disks but have a hidden recovery partition installed on the hard drive which might be recoverable. If there's a windows COA label stuck on the bottom of your laptop you could try pressing and holding down the F11 key when booting which might access it. If it doesn't try googling "HP PC Angel recovery partition" for possible fixes. |

Thank you EII. All the original stickers are there but F11 doesn't work.
What is so annoying about this is that i gave this Ph guy a DrWeb disc, which i had to download in an internet cafe as i could not acces my own LT. He did not use it and instead did his "own thing"! The origian version would cost me close to 100 quid here. Even then, i could not be sure it is genuine. Filipinos are true master of fraud and deceit. In fact that is the ONLY thing that is genuine here!  I will try HP Angel but if i had to download something from Supremo, would i as a novice, be able to install myself? I can tell you i am pretty worried abou this. Than ks again and all the best. PS Little joke slightly in keeping with the subject. What is the difference between a counterfeit dollar and a skeleton? Now i have no sound! Last night no problems at all. I have not done anything that could affect this apart from a scan just now, but no faults found. Checked everything else i can think of. Is this the beginning of the end?

Many laptops have a switch for turning off all sound. It could be a touch button or a physical switch that could be almost anywhere.
If that's not it, just try restarting your computer. |

Have a look at the 2nd post on this page. You need to check that recovery partition hasn't been deleted. Also check that the serial number on the windows COA label is legible before doing anything as you need the 25 character code to activate windows. |

Backup any data before doing this as your data & settings could be deleted.
Also bear in mind that setting your pc up could take 3-4 hours so be careful unless you've got alternative internet access. |

EII...I think i will wait for the return of the bro-in-law at the week-end and get him to do it with me watching! I am afraid i might cause even more of an upset to my LT. At least the genuine sticker is on the machine with legible codes etc.
