Watching the O'Sullivan-Trump match at 5-2 Trump, I saw that the price of a 6-5 Ronnie win (the only score he can win by) was 7.4, but I could lay Ronnie to win the match at just 6.6. More money in my account and a sharper eye and I could've made a killing.

But what I'm wondering is how often this sort of thing happens, and why it happens?

I might be wrong but I think if trump pulled out the match before it was finished then o'sullivan would be classed as the winner but the correct score would be void so you'd lose the lay on the match odds but not make anything on the 6-5

dg123 is very probably right. You're effectively arbing across markets, but you can be caught by such things (never mind if you forget about commission). You can get similar in any sport that might suffer an abandonment. As to how much the markets factor it in .. well it depends how often the match not "completing" happens.

The chance of a snooker match not completing at that stage of the match was negligible really, so the market wasn't factoring that in the price. It happened once with a Ronnie match but that really was a one off.

It wasn't much of a price discrepancy when you factor in 5% comm Liam, but that is how some of the big players on BF make their money as it happens in many markets per day, but they use bots more so than manually.

My quick calculations show that backing and laying those prices in the same market for 1k would show a £115 profit after 5% comm, but doing the same thing in separate markets would only see a profit of just over £40. So you need a bot that spots arbs like that, they happen all the time.
