New and improved homepage goes live

Earlier today we switched on our new Community homepage. We have listened to comments, suggestions and opinions, and tried to reflect as many of those as possible in the new designs and features. We have tried to bring current and live content into your view with areas that show the latest threads and biggest topics across a number of different forums. Any content you see is clickable, meaning you are only ever one mouse click away from visiting that conversation and joining the discussion. The new homepage is also dynamic – in other words, the content you can see will regularly refresh itself or be replaced by something that is newer or busier.

We will continue to work to further enhance the new homepage, and as ever, we’ll listen to all feedback.

If you are reading this post in the ‘Classic’ forum, click the ‘Switch to New Community’ link in the top-left corner of the page and take a look. Some of the new elements are:

Big Discussions

We will gather together some of the most popular and lively threads at the top of the page so that you can see what topics are really busy on the forums whenever you visit the Community.

Recent Topics

This new area will allow us to display the threads that have most recently been posted on in a number of different forums, without you having to click through and find them. This area will automatically refresh every minute, so that if you stay on the homepage, you’ll see where the most active threads are. We will always aim to make sure the forums on display in this area are those which are likely to be the busiest.

Left-hand menu

One of the main comments from customers was that they wanted to be able to find forums more easily, and that the existing navigation did not help them do so. Therefore, we have now brought all forum categories to the surface in the left-hand menu.

Twitter/Blogs

We have made these more compact, and made it possible to click into any of Betfair’s official Twitter feeds while still remaining on the Community homepage.

Football forum

We have decided to revert back to one single Football forum as the majority of customer feedback preferred this to two forums.
