Ive given up day to day betting as i end up having silly bets on horses that are either poor value or were not worth the effort.
Instead i intend to concentrate on going to the races and the major festivals i.e Cheltenham and Ascot and staking more money on these events.
What i need to find out from people out there is what is the best way to go about it, have tried various staking plans, selection systems but they either put you on to favourites or you end up betting higher stakes i.e doubling up etc which cant be operated on just one days racing anyway.
I also go to the greyhounds and do quite well backing one selection per race to level stakes and usually get 3-4 winners a meeting which gives me a profit over the 12-13 races on the night. The difference with the dogs being there are only 6 runners and you can usually get at least 6-4 if not more on the favourite anyway. Anymore than 3-4 winners is a bonus. At the races favourites you are lucky to get 1/1 or upwards so 2-3 of them ain't going to cover my stakes over 7 races. Backing 2nd favs is also going to only guarantee more losers than winners!
I especially would like to hear from people and there experiences with Cheltenham and Ascot because i want to know how to win over 28 races!

At Cheltenham? From memory there were two, maybe three odds-on favourites across all four days of last year's Festival.

What i am meaning is backing favourites does not always cover the stakes for a days racing never mind 4 days at cheltenham regardless whether they are odds on or odds against.
Want to know how the players on here do it, Dave Nevison for instance sometimes backs 2 or 3 against the field but as he gets winners can cover the cost.
What i need to know is how to look at a full racecard and break it down to a minimum of selections to give myself the best chance of winning on a day or days!

'I want to know how to win over 28 races' - this is laughable. You should not be betting if you think even for a moment that there is such a thing as '..winning over 28 races' and even more so that you think that someone might tell you this, if they knew it.

don't even think of going to a Race meeting if your intention is to make money - you will bet every race (or else whats the point of going) and do ALL your money. They don't hold race meetings so we can win their money - they hold race meetings so they can win our money. Stay home and bet on SELECTED races, across the cards. If a person is shrewd enough, this is how they win. If you want a nice day out and have a few hundred(say) you don't mind losing, go racing.
