yesterday's results. think i'm going to rule out horse racing in the future. i also might want to lower my stakes a bit and profits a bit as i'm well in front of schedule, which indicates that i'm taking a bit too much risk. the idea of the whole plan is thinking long term, winning a lot of very small profits with minimal risk (1-2%) bets. i notice that i don't mind losing 10 or 20 of my bank, but i feel a certain urge when i just lost 4% of my initial bank as it can easily destroy today's profit.

i did, but i still find myself chasing. i lost 40 on espanyol yesterday. they were 0-1 up and cought a red card, then 2 goals in the last 10 minutes, so i guess you can call that a bad beat. the idea is to gradually recover the loss in a couple of steps, or even just leave it like that because i'm ahead of schedule. then i saw valencia was up 1-0 against sevilla. i watched the match for 20 minutes, checked the stats etc. sevilla had 1 shot on target in about 60 minutes, so i layed them to win 40 on valencia and draw with a big liability. turned out fine, but i realize that these bets can destroy my bank, when in fact i could have left the loss like that and claim my daily profit..
i'm not sure how to arm myself against such weaknesses.. i noticed that i can easily transfer money (i think even without a fee) in and out of betfair, so maybe i should just allow myself a smaller percentage of my bank to play with to set a maximum liability. do you think that's a good idea? |

Nicholas, open an electronic money account (Neteller, MoneyBooker etc.) and keep most of your money in there. Transfer a little money to Betfair every day, and use the Daily Deposit Limit to control exactly how much you can move across over a 24 hour period. That way, you're very limited in how much you can lose in one day. And if you've had a good session and want to protect some of your profits, you can move that money out instantly, and the most you can then lose that day is whatever you have left in your Betfair account.

sounds wonderful Cooee! i was already thinking of something like that. the only difficulty is that i only want to use 1 or 2% of my bank per market. but most of the time i play on multiple markets at the same time. maybe i can transfer 5% of my bank and set my own rules only to use about a fifth of that per market.
i also think that sometimes opportunities show up that entitle a bigger liability. for instance a 1.01 in the last 30 seconds of a basketball game can easily make some "riskfree" extra bucks, of course only using a small percentage of the bank, yet an amount bigger than 1 or 2% .. |

Yeah, that is the problem with using Neteller/Moneybooker. You are a little restricted in what you can do per day, so it won't suit everybody. But if you can find a way of making it work with your system, it's a good way of cutting out those 'AAAGGHHH Why did I throw away so much money on that!' moments.

Well when I first met Paul I spent many hours writing him posts telling him what he needed to do to learn something about betting - I even gave him a couple of precise angles to explore, angles which I'm still using almost daily to make money with. What became apparent, though, was that he didn't actually have any interest in working and developing as a bettor - indeed, his posts the other day to Contrarian show that his knowledge of betting systems hasn't moved on one inch in several months.
When I tired of answering his many questions (most of which were very irrelevant to his development, and along the lines of 'are you a pro', 'what money do you make', 'can you give me tips' etc.), he started getting very aggressive with me and sent me a torrent of abusive pms. He also treated many other posters with similar contempt, and is still given to being very abusive to those he doesn't think are playing ball with him. There's nothing clever about the way he treats other people, and I've decided to prove that by being as least as nasty to him as he has been to others on Betfair. I'm sorry to say this Acquiesce, but your friend isn't the nice chap he claims to be. You clearly haven't seen his nasty side yet, which rather leads me to the conclusion that you should reserve your favourite 'netted' photo for yourself. If you're going to post nonsense and than ask me not to reply, it makes me wonder if you just came down in the last shower, the only person with a nasty side here I have seen is from you - as seen from your recent vitriolic long and winded posts, put him on block if you dislike him that much but the truth of the matter is you won't because even Stevie Wonder can see you relish given him a tongue lashing on a daily basis to aid your own ego trip by answering his questions repetitively when most people would have just ignored along time ago, you don't appear to have the same brain cells. |
