Had some last night.
Well not sure about Carols as I didn't hear any.

Just thought I had heard knocking, so turned down the music, and indeed I had as they knocked again.

Then again even louder!

Have to admire their enterprise for bothering to come down the drive as most wouldn't bother.

Next they are at another door holding in the doorbell so I am thinking it might be someone needing me urgently to be so persistent.

So I went to see what was going on and opened the door to two teenage girls who launched into "we wish you a merry Xmas...... etc".

Being somewhat angered, by such frenzied knocking, at 20:40
I told them I wished them the same and now clear off.

The thing is firstly, I'm sure no carol singing took place, then how many times is it acceptable to knock someone's door unless it is an emergency?

I would say that the first time is an intrusion, the second time is rude and the third time is inconsiderate.
Any more is downright contemptuous!

Now before I am derided as a miserable, uncharitable b@stard,I am certainly not.

I used to be a child, some time ago, and we always made people suffer at least three verses of three carols before knocking.

Where I was living, before here, "he Rotary Club" came round every year with a decorated trailer pulled by a tractor.
The trailer was lit up, and Santa was there waving, and carols played through speakers.

It was totally brilliant and people went out with their kids to see it.

Young people dressed as elves and fairies came round with buckets and they must have collected many hundreds if not thousands of pounds that nobody begrudged giving.

Today, no carols, only beggars, many of who are Gypsies.

Sorry for the rant but I feel better now!  Happy
