Been looking into it just out of morbid curiousity, I understand the general principle but if their so good why shouldnt I get one and sit back to watch the money roll in?! Sorry if im being totally ignorant here! Am I missing something? Cheers

The output is only as good as the input.
Understand that ?

Not really...Do you mean you (the punter) need to make the correct selections for what you want the bot to actually bet on?

Generally, the only parameter that needs to be set is TOTAL DESIRED PROFIT. I usually set mine to about £1000/day. Any more would be greedy.

Of course that is only DESIRED profit... on bad days one might not make any money.

I'm going to set my  TOTAL DESIRED PROFIT to £999 to gain an advantage now.

I cant find where to put TOTAL DESIRED PROFIT into the bot. Is it under the "SIT BACK AND RELAX" menu Confused

some bot applications have the ability and potential to make you a profit via trading
but under the first law of sharing knowledge known as "its all mine, all mine"
these conditional add ons or modules will not be supplied.Wink

They do say where theres muck theres money, but no-one has managed to make a good bot that can clean up the house properley so the likeleyhood of buying an application that hovers up the markets
while you have free time to clean the house is looking pretty remote.

I personally use a special bot I bought off the market, when I want to make steady profits after charges I set it to "trade like a city boy" but if I want to make risky quick bucks dodging charges and pc1,2 and 3 I set it on " trade like del trotter"

Bots are great.

Until something goes wrong, then you need to step in.

Aka GIGO, garbage in garbage out.

The Met office are very familiar with this term, their hugely expensive climate computers consistently fail and get mid range forecasts completely wrong, barbecue summer anyone?

I believe their last 5 out of 6 mid range forecasts were the opposite to what actually happened. These are the same computers they use to broadcast MMGW theory predictions, yet they can't get 6 months ahead correct let alone 60 years.

Their computers are programmed with a bias towards warming for all the wrong reasons, and there has been none so far this century. A classic example of GIGO if ever there was. If they were gamblers they would be long since bust.

After five years on here I asked myself the same question as the OP, and am now making £££ a week from bots.

You need an edge but if you have one that can be translated into code then you have a lot of potential for making good money.

Can bots assess value ?
If yes then does thar presuppose that value in a purely objective mathematical calculation, as opposed to a " partly" subjective human one ?
If they can't , however , then how can " value driven" strategies be botted, if they contain an element of human subjectivity ?
By:

When: 13 Dec 11 13:24
Yes, otherwise they would never make a profit.

Am I to interpret that to mean that value is non-subjective then ?
Care to elaborate further ?

I think perhaps that in truth bots can take an element of the hard labour out of a strategy, that is the manual implementation of it, but they can't take out the element of hard labour involved in setting up the betting parameters in the first place.
And as such parameters are continually changing game to game race to race depending on the myriad of different factors affecting each different game or race, bots are not just " sit back and watch the profits roll in " type animals they are quite often described as ( though not, I must hasten to add, by those who do really operate good ones ).

Value is objective otherwise all long term winners must be just lucky.

All bots should be disabled by betfair, make it a level playing field.

Can't really argue with that cat in essence.
I suppose the questioning of this irrefutable fact arises sometimes involuntariliy in a short term sense.
That is you can have two equally talented long term successful pros look at a particular game or race, and come up with completely different value assessments.
But that is just saying that value assessment is not a one off operation, it is a long term ability to get it more right than wrong.
Hence you're right then in saying that certain bots can do ALL the work, not just some of it.
Now those are the ones I really admire and envy.

Depends, is 69 your iq?

My Iq is a little higher than 69 and as for sexual preferences I'll take anything goingGrin
