Well you'd need to maintain 150k with 15% commission.

So you'd need to generate 22.5k betfair points each week. In fact you'd need to do more as you would decay then rebuild, so you'd need to actually generate the following amount:

(150,000 / 0.85) * 0.15 = 26,470.5882

You earn Betfair Points every time you bet on a market. You will earn 1 point for every 10 pence of commission paid (if you have net winnings) or implied commission (if you have a net loss).

So assuming you're not making a loss you'd need to be paying £2,647 just in commission each week

But your commission is only 2%, so you'd need to have gross winnings of £132,352.941 as well as making a net profit.

Loads, basically.

Actually that net winnings refers to each market not the week I think so you'd require a total combination of gross winnings and gross losses to be that figure.

But that's a lot of betting or trading in any case.

Interesting topic though, would be interesting to know what the forumites commission rates are.

I'll start then :)

I generate around 6000 points per week and pay comm at 3.3%, hopefully will reduce that further next year.

I've been on 2 % most weeks the last two years or so, but am on 2.6 % this week and it will increase steadily up to 4.5 - 5 % within the naxt couple of months.

ror, you "only" need to generate 22500 points every week as a minimum to be on 2 %.
This is because your discount rate for the next week is calculated before they deduct the 15 %.

2% since 2006 except for a small blip when they changed the thresholds.

it's the decay that kills you.

I'm on 2.0%, I bet typically £2 a time and still sometimes green out!
