Yep, just noticed it happening in that 19:20 at Wolerhampton ... could have been doing it earlier too but I wasn't watching then ... by Bot's getting a sore head

Something was definitely going wrong last night. Looking through my bots logs I can see the market prices massively out of line with the prices it was getting matched at.
Specifically it was on the win markets for the 19:50 and 21:20 at Wolverhampton.
Have Betfair provided any explanation? I was on holiday the last time this happened but saw the service message about some third party monitoring software.

The API cannot just change overnight, its been working well for years, more possibly a server or bot error, these individual units can go into gurus now and again, the API is set in stone and although there are some well documented errors their will no new ones unless they release a new update.

If your worried about partially matched bets, then have better control over cancelling unmatched bets and if the matcher has cancelled the amount available then little you can do about something thats no longer available.
Better bot design is up to you to enable better succesful staking stats.

ownership of the problem will not credit me with legality to an over-view of the possible reasons or explanations but logiac dictates that getting bet cancelations in any betfair market cannot mean api corruption, correct me if I have made a mistake?

Actualy the bot handled the situation very well and I'm pleased to say that it managed to limit the pain quickly, otherwise I could have easily returned last night to find a considerable hole in my account.
No one is saying that the API changed overnight, what appears to have happened is that the results from Betfair's servers to calls such as getmarketpricescompressed contained old data. Some people seem to have matched bets voided but that doesn't appear to have happened to me.
Thanks for your thoughts BFF.Actualy the bot handled the situation very well and I'm pleased to say that it managed to limit the pain quickly, otherwise I could have easily returned last night to find a considerable hole in my account. No one is sayin
I am currently learning to program the api and I have never personally noticed any mal-function of the API which is what this thread is proposing? later posts indicate bet canselations and partial matched bets which again is not uncommon.

What I have seen is that the prices returned by the api were a long way from contempory quotes on other exchanges and also a long way from the prices which submitted bets were matched on Betfair.
Yes, prices can move quickly but having run my bot on several hundred horse races it's never seen anything like that.

actually I did notice on american racing big gaps in the lay-backing price but these markets are under liquidated and typically 105% plus over-round most of the time.

It does look like a matching bot error on the part of betfair then, the api just handles account instructions, its your bots and betfairs many bots that does all the rest.

It looks to me like a problem with the market prices being returned from the api.
I've sent an email to Betfair, I'll let you know if there's any feedback.

was the format returned for certain calls old data type, this is a worrying problem as it means that the new format was not implemented, why this should occur is strange and needs an explanation from betfair, sorry I didnt understand the problem correctly, many apologies.

lets hope they come clean with a good explanation, if the returned calls were old type then most good bots will error trap and avoid the markets in question but the problem of being left in losing positions is of a great concern to all involved.

You get some crazy prices in overseas markets and the lack of good form databases for these races is the probable cause, looks like these countries are not letting go of information rights to there sports, cloak and dagger practice and not good for there sports markets globally regarding certain countries.

In the uk we are graced with a well established bookmaking indusrty which is why british sports websites seem to be the best in the world, I have seen some good aussie sites but the US seems backward when it comes to racing info products and sporting journos, but then again its the british that invented most of the sports, the americans since thier frontier /prospecting town days have been obsessed with spinning wheels and poker and the casino has become embedded in their culture to the detrement of racing, they invented the mechanical lure and track for greyhound racing and yet its the casinso that part own there tracks that engage in closing them down along with some horse tracks, certain casino websites have special reports on the negative bias view of greyhound racing.
When the mid-west was over run with jack rabbits, the amercains had a different view on greyhounds and imported them from ireland to save there crops and stop america from starving, we have a deeper and loger link with hunting hounds and have had them in our culture for thousands of years.
sorry guys well off topic but I hope you find the facts interesting.
