Goodness knows, anyone would think they had a business to run or something.

Somebody is running this business?

That seems most unlikely.

Maybe it's one on the famous Buffet chimps ?

Lets hope the new boy knows how to grow a business as opposed to just taking more from existing customers.
By:

It's very profitable now, why does it have to grow?  The mistakes that Betfair have made have been made trying to grow the business rather than reap the benefits of their achievements.

Yeah - fair point, well made, growth is over rated anyway Cry

well put it like this, the betfair exchange model can benefit all gamblers over other betting models and they allow winners and encourage them so thats a WIN, the premium charging model helps betfair break even with the few that make
mega money out of betfairs customers and helps betfair WIN, so boys and girls its a WIN,WIN situation ENJOY.

Back to defending PC again bff ?
By:

accepting pc not defending it, two different meanings ,mind you it doesn't and may never effect me so its not important to me.

And there's the problem, people accepting unfairness just because it doesn't affect them.
By:
bf_fananatic

if I was paying pc1,2 or 3 I would be crying all the way to the bank, how unfair would that beExcited

I think you would look differently at it if you actually had to pay PC.
By:

do you pay it?
By:
Eddie the eagle
When: 26 Nov 11 12:43
I've paid my fair share of it, but has almost completely stopped using this site now as I'm on 40 % and I can't justify to myself using this site on those terms.

what happened to the greatest greyhound system ever you were going to unleash on betfair

is it system working send more money  or have you still not had a bet on here

Eddie have you ceased altogether or gone across the road?

sidelined my research into greyhound racing as you need to account for seasonal effects and without years of records its not accurate enough to make a crust. having a bet or not is irrelevant if you don't have an edge, ok for recreational fun but thats all.

More interested in programming the wonderful betfair  api at the moment and application design, all things come in time provided you put the effort in, cant see pc putting me off or anyone else from achieving goals.

wheres the logic in suspending profitable activity on betfair because you only keep 40-50% net when there are no real alternatives except BD with much lower liquidity, sounds like a protest rewarding you with less profit to me.

I would love to pay 17%.  Being on 60% I would love to pay 40%.

As Eddie says it has almost stopped me using Betfair (which I guess was ther aim).

I have kept about 12.5% of my betting on Betfair, the rest mainly across the road.

But like they say "all good things come to an end", so I have moved on and spend much more time doing other things.

Consequently, for the quality of my life, the 60% PC has been a positive change Cool

one cant assume putting off big players was the intention of the infamous pc2 but possibly this has happened to a small degree, surely the intention was to address the liability to revenues caused by a powerful group that make
a total vast sum from betfair otherwise why would betfair target this small group of users (0.01%) only.

Now that betfair breaks more than even with this sector there activities can be accepted and a mutual reliance on these profits is maintained which is good for the winners welcome policy longterm.

What I and many haven't seen is a mass exodus of all big winners, many be a handful have moved but possibly also a handful of new winners have reached the pc2 threshold also.

Thanks john. I've had a look over there lately and liquidity seems decent. I'll certainly do my best to increase it. I'll put plenty of money into the market, how much of it that will be matched remain to be seen though.

I've stopped(almost) my betting on here partially in spite of letting them charge me more than I think is fair, but mostly because I wont give them the pleasure of bleeding me dry if I go on a good run before I eventually hit the bad run with no compensation from them.

Your point has been expressed by others and they do say quit while your ahead so persons in this position would shut up shop under pc2 conditions so you have a valid point.

Why the delay, Eddie?
By:
Eddie the eagle
When: 26 Nov 11 16:30
Two reasons, the main one is that it has taken longer and been more complicated to transfer the money than I anticipated.  The other reason is that I haven't pushed it much as I mainly bet on golf and late November and December is a quiet period.

They want incumbent, tiny-margin 'bookies' servicing recreational bettors. Why wd they want anything else?

If the leadership of any sport, and particularly horses, had any nous, they wd have put together a competitive proposition vis-a-vis bf years ago.

Maybe I am being really stupid, but would there be any chance of putting the proceeds of this rip off taxation to making the site stable so it doesn't keep on crashing every f**cking day???
