I live in the West Mids and TV went digital a while back, is it possible to still somehow get analogue TV as pictures are a few seconds faster than compared with digital?

Yes.

Based on the information on the digital uk website, you could obtain analogue output by moving to * Anglia, ** Tyne Tees, Meridian, London or Northern Ireland.

If you don't fancy moving then you're probably out of luck unless you happen to live close enough to one of those regions to be able to tune into it's analogue output. I suspect that is unlikely if you reside in the West Midlands.

Welcome to the digital regression.

*  Presently switching
** All other regions due to switch in 2012

Thanks for the info, shame it's already switched where I am. I suppose everyone will be in the same boat soon enough.

Most of Anglia region already digital , so don't move here.

It's as though we are becoming a third world country - everything that is done in the name of improvement is ,as you put it, always a regression.

...I think it is 2014 or 2015. But on this subject, any idea if there is a way to upgrade your in card stereo for digital? As presumably once they turn the analogue radio signal off, they are all rendered useless?

I think for that reason I find it hard to believe that analogue radio is likely to disappear any time soon. Plus digital radio reception seems very patchy in a lot of areas

Is every thread on this forum full of b/s conspiracy theories?

So you'd prefer it if we just had 5 channels again? I certainly wouldn't. What % of customers give a sh*t if their episode of frozen planet (do you even GET analgue HD?) is a couple seconds slower in analogue than digital? No sane person WOULD.

The people who DO care are going to be the 0.05% who e.g. bet on sporting events in play, and I'm one of them and I can live with it, so even on THAT venn diagram the people really bothered are going to be, basically, your whingers.

What % of (non sky) viewers do you think would happily ditch their freeview and go back to 5 channels to keep moaning betfairians happy?

Get a grip ffs!

Grumpy old JC Devil

Turn on ya radio, analogue will be going for a while yet and has always been faster anyway.

To balance my little strop up Devil:
Keeping a number of analogue radio channels IS something I'd agree with. Problem with digital is rather than fading out a little, it tends to be all or nothing, rather than a reduction in quality. TVs tend to be static but radios often are mobile, like in cars or carried. I've not driven a car with a digital radio but I've the fear you'd be prone to things just dropping out completely or for annoying periods or really choppy, so keeping a few strong signal analogue channels would make sense. Especially for remote areas?

My MP3 player radio is flakey enough as it is and it's analogue...
