ipad2 vs macbook

I'm not a techy but I shouldn't imagine so. Of more importance is how you configure your modem/router e.g. apply Media Access Control filtering i.e. tell your modem/router to allow access your two devices only and no other.

…and obviously I suppose, use the best/latest encryption your modem/router supports.
