Having a dispute with Betfred over wording of a market on Saturdays Challenge Cup final and been advised to speak with IBAS. What are general thoughts on these guys? Any advice much appreciated. Cheers

They take nearly as long as the BHA to come to a decision. Took 6 months to decide that an online bet of £800 I placed with koral's which was accepted by their traders 100 seconds after the off (10 furlong race so accepted with approx 2f to race when looking beat) should be void. You'd be quicker taking the GC for lunch as they may see it your way provided you have taped conversations and live video of the bet being placed.

IBAS allowed a bookmaker six months to doctor camera evidence and void my legitimate winning bet. They dine with their ex-colleagues in the bookmaking industry regularly. Also popularly known as BIAS. Your last resort. If you have any sort of case use the Small Claims Court - bookmakers are less comfortable dealing with them. The worst that can happen is you get a speedier result.

As all the other punters have said, IBAS are notoriously biased against the punter and take any kind of overarching bookie rule as set in stone.
Your best option is the Small Claims Court, and make what you are calling illegal under the terms of the Unfair Terms in Consumer Contracts Act as large as possible. This skews the risk-reward in yr favour. Does the bookmaker want to have the prospect that all of their rules are unlawful for the sake of any single bet? In contract disputes, the law typically decides cases on the 'intention' of wording, so yr interpretation will need to be very good if you want more than yr bet voided. |

IBAS is nothing more than a nice little earner,for it's members.
The're only intrested is the income (from bookmakers). Did anyone believe that someone would start an organisation for the sole reason of giving punters a fair deal. They know (as do the bookmakers) that they have to find in the punters favour sometimes,but one thing they have never been is independant. |
