Tv revolutionized betting shops when sis started business many years ago and sis itself is not surprisingly owned by
bookmakers so they will have an advantage over other bookmakers that don't have a share in sis.

The point I am making is that if betfair could show the live racing it would make the whole experience much better
for customers to actually see what they are betting on.

The main problem is the cost, most LBO pay over 10,000 per annum to show the services and with over 8,000 LBO
Thats a staggering bill which does go to pay the many horse and greyhound tracks to video the live events, again
in respect of greyhound tracks some of these are owned by bookmakers giving them an unfair advantage to sell rights
to a tv company they then have shared ownership .

Turf tv is the only competitor in the field at present but I presume that the bookmakers cant get exclusive rights through
sis for videoing live events as tracks have the upperhand in that stopping the showing of races in LBO would drastically affect
there turnover if the tracks blocked the rights over exclusion arguments, so doesn't that leave the door open for
tracks to allow other tv companies to try and get a foothold in videoing the sporting events or is it a non starter?

I think I can speak for all exchange customers in saying we would all dearly love to see the races that we bet on
on-line or how about some form of electronic tagging for all runners so that there positions live in the race could be relayed
to our screens which would be great for in-play betting.

I personally think that if betfair as a global betting player want to truly develop they need
to go back to there roots, the sporting markets, and further develop the whole on-line experience from a top z and v for video is the best way to enhance the users experience
for me an electronic tagging system would do the same job as track maps with zoom could show the positions on a pc screen which has a big advantage over a tv screen in a LBO so would trully
be an on-line advantage and would make in-play betting much more enjoyable and accurate!

Thanks for the link top2rated, it shows that this system does exist and I read that it is used in the uk for in-play betting and yet not available for punters directly.I presume its betfair that has access
to this data, how else could they make a market based on in-play performances without this data.

This underlines the whole problem with betting in that its left to companies to decide who can and cant see or know what data and along this fiscally minded decision making the users end experience
is left to people like the bbc that virtually scrap horse racing coverage or sis that monopolize
say there own greyhound tracks coverage at the demise of greyhound tracks generally like all the ones owned by the GRA.

Makes you wonder if racing generally and the punters getting the best deal or a raw deal?

Interestingly 24dogs offer a service for the gra owned dog tracks where by you have to have a bet
each night to allow you to see the races so backing a favorite in trap 6 once a night would mean the service would be cheap for mainly evening meetings, i could back to make a profit but I wouldn't be after the totes money but then again isn't it owned by a bookmaker now, hmmm

And lets not forget the radio services, very good indeed for betfair users!
