if i had a 150 point betting bank and i tried to make a point a day compounding each day , how do i work out how many bets it takes to reach a certain goal?

Do you mean this

b * k^n = g
so n = (log(g) - log (b)) / log (k) = log(g/b) / log(k)

If b = 150, k = 1.01 and g = 10,000 then n = log(10000 / 150) / log (1.01) = 422.07
