Just a thought, if every punter paid a monthly subscription of a small amount say £2 then this would stack up to many millions annually but here lies the problem, does everyone want to pay for winners, betfair has too, and so do we when the big winners beat us on an event outcome, but a subscription charge would eliminate the need for the premium charge, your thoughts and support please[;)]

We shall see if anyone is prepared to pay a small monthly charge say for a 3 month period to allow them to use the betfair exchange then the millions brought in as revenue would offset the need for charging the few winners, of course this highlights the real problem doesnt it, no one really wants to pay for the winners and yey every one on here likes moaning about it so if there is no support for this post then that proves no one is really prepared to pay for the winners so then why the hell should betfair keep paying them out when there bombing the market ladders using computer software

The Exchange makes heaps of money from charging every user commission, it does not need to charge a monthly fee.
Bf_fanantic, have you ever had a profitable BF account? If yes, what percentage of your gross profit did you pay in commission? If your account wasn't profitable, how much commission did you pay over the course of losing your money? You harp on about the Premium Charge as if it keeps the company afloat, yet PC payers pay the least of all other users! I think your original post was about rewarding PC payers with shares in the company, whilst the main commission payers received nothing. Can you see how ridiculous that suggestion was now? |

And in respect to trevs questions, If I ever did get to the premium charge level of profit
either pc1 or pc2 I would be grateful to be able to keep the remainder as I understand that betfair must afford me and charge according to the service that allows me these large profits! If fact I commend them for such a "fair" concept to only charge the very highest earners the highest rate, medium winners the 20% rate and all can receive still as low as 2% commission.  |

betfair for being the robin hood of the betting world, competing with the bookmakers and allowing people to win big, now betfair are trying to stop the money from draining out the system while some of you fill your boots either actually or in aspiration you try to cal them names on there own forum. You just don't understand the commission structure do you. Nobody can pay 2% commission. The people you think pay the least actually pay the most. The people you think pay the most actually pay the least as a percentage of their GP. How many more times? :) |

Already paid for via standard commission rates. Just because someone offers a service, does not mean it's fair to impose significant amounts in fees. eBay started doing the same thing to their big sellers and many moved to other sites. It's a similar situation as they are a monopoly much like Betfair is. Whenever suitable competition will arise in the future, everyone would move over. Just like people did from Myspace to Facebook and as may be the case from Facebook to Google +. Too many changes are never a good thing for any business model. |

How my heart bleeds for you all, all you poor screaming souls, some hark "no the charge it will finish me" when your more likely to win the lottery then ever reach £250,000 though your lack of fiscal realities.
Some cry, "but we pay enough" when if you worked for an exchange it would take you a week to work out what enough really was in a complex sporting exchange model. Some bleat" oh, we will run away to where the grass is greener" when there is no where to run, except bookmakers that will squeeze every losing penny out of your revenues and or move to boring little other exchanges with no class or prestige let alone realistic liquidity. If the few lost souls on the forum are troubled so and cant awaken to the reality of life in the king of exchanges then go now, but please go quietly for it truly doth heavy my heart  |

I believe that if bf_fananatic knew the difference between "there" and "their" & "your" and "you`re" more people would take notice of what he writes.

Any one that uses the exchange actually works in the exchange, the whole idea is to "work" in a betting environment that offers you 1.05 effective over-round inc commission charge to propagate
any edge you may have, then after paying any other charges due, which we all no what they are, we keep our profits and can come back for more. Nowhere else can you "work" in this way and still make the largest profits even if paying 60% in premium charge. Its a pro-gamblers paradise and I wouldn't "work" anywhere else, I don't actually work for betfair but I work closer in understanding what betfair is than persons believing I must work for them purely because I commend the decisions they make. I do get the feeling that all these facts go completely over the heads of a lot of forum junkies and perhaps your out of your depth on corporate decisions and there implications and justifications. Still while your posting on here your leaving other people alone so there is some benefit. |

Raps your quite right my English is quite bad, I didn't go to school, didn't want to, they wanted me to go to collage at 14 as I excelled at maths, physics, chemistry but hated English, so instead I didn't go to school and taught myself, learned to program the first computers that came out, programmed my first racing prediction software before I could go in a bookies for a friend.
I don't follow the crowd, I take my time to observe before I jump into decisions but once locked on to a challenge, I succeed. Yes I will go on and support what betfair have done , what they are doing , and what they will do because they are different, brilliant in fact, and I am truly sorry if you cant understand what they are and what they offer. As a footnote, Einstein didn't talk till he was 4, and sir Isaac Newton was a trouble little boy, but never judge a person (or a racing runner)on how they start, but on how they finish! |
