to all those punters planning to leave BF in the near future for greener pastures.
All the best.
Please feel welcome to come back at any future time if things do not turn out as you want or need.
There will be no reprisals if you do return.
There will be now show trials.
There will be no ugly displays of schadenfreude.
No taunts of " I told you so ".
The only small problem ( to you that is) might be that in the interim we may have learnt that we can actually walk or run without you.
Our self confidence in our gambling abilitites may have gone up in leaps and bounds.
But I'm sure that will present you with no real problems.
You will quickly get back into your stride on here and , before you can say PC, you'll back cleaning us out just like now.
Bon voyage.

Yep you're right, the cocktail cabinet has taken a severe hammering tonight.

I bet you all opened this thread hoping and praying that I was saying goodbye.
What a disappointment you must now be experiencing.
There is no God.

That's one minute of my life I'll never get back.

Why would you want to ?

You see I'll do or say anything for a two way conversation at these early hours of the morning.
The wife's asleep, the dog's asleep, nobody around. Nobody. Just Justerini & Brooks. Good friends though. Very reliable and always good listeners, if nothing else.

I wonder if the many losers on here will lose at a slower rate or god forbid turn to winners? I very much doubt it.

My guess would be the pc payers that stick around will win faster and the near pc payers will get to the threshold faster like me. My 23.9% will become 20% and I'll be off. The losers will still be losers and lose just as much just as quickly IMO as liquidity will worsen and prices get worse.

Did you ever take that job offer you were talking about a few weeks back ?
If not, do you wish you had now ?

Lots of people apparently going out on a limb as regards the future prospects of BF.
Lots of potential for egg on face methinks perhaps.
Time will tell. It always does.
Does the juice make others as deeply philosophical, or is it just me ?
I reckon I'm going to regret this little thread in a few hours or so.

Not so funny thing happened. They hadn't officially offered me the role but basically told me in the final interview I was the most qualified for the role and they had to just get approval to pay me the top of the pay scale for the role and check references etc. Then nothing until I checked with them a week later and they said they filled the role internally. Basically the existing sports marketing guy switched roles and now his job is being advertised for which I'm less qualified. F'ing government jobs - this sort of **** always happens. They advertise to fulfill their equal opportunities criteria then give it to an internal candidate.

I would have taken the job for what its worth.

These things have a habit of turning out for the best.
There I go again, getting philosophical and all that wishy washy stuff.
I reckon you'll survive racing.
You sound to me to have quite a few bankable skills in the gambling arena.

As for future of BF it's gonna go on a decline and think the exchange model will die in BF's current format in next 5-10 years. The m@tchbook version is more sustainable/equitable IMO but I haven't seen their balance sheet to see how well they're doing to be fair.

Trouble for me is getting fresh online accs and runners. I need 3/4 fresh online accs each year and one reliable runner. Gets harder each year as people seem to want the earth to set up accs. FFS you'd think the free tips itself would be plenty but apparently not.

And you know what worries me, I think you are probaly one of the small few on here who really knows a thing or two about these matters.
You have, after all, actually been involved in the formation of some type of such failed start up operation in the US, if I recall correctly.
But my recall abilities are getting a bit blurry at the moment tbh.

The exchange model one is a really tricky one as it only really works in a low cost format IMO with high volume/low margin. BF has the volume and used to have the low cost but thats all changed in their bid to improve their market capitilisation for which they succeeded. However, now they have overheads that are too high and they are desperately trying to increase their margin as player acquisition costs are too high to improve profit through expansion. This is gonna kill the low margin and the appeal and the product will shrink with BF having to cut costs/jobs in future to make it work again. All depends on how the competition moves on in the interim but my gut feel is its gonna be hard for anyone to get enough market share at low cost to make an exchange work properly.

I can't help but consider the similarities with the adage of an accountant business-managing a restaurant.  The accountant looks at the profitability of each part of the business and realises that the majority of the profit comes from selling deserts and coffees.  So he sacks the chefs, changes the menus, and converts the restaurant into an ice-cream parlour.

It's what's happened with Betfair.

I think I'm now in the zombie zone, but that sounds sweet to me.

Let's hope not or you'll be having to join the exodus.

Don't worry, i'll still be clearing you out whilst I explore possible greener pastures, there will be no interim
