Once the undisputed leader in his field, but grew full of his own importance, and was exposed as an arrogant, out-of touch dinosaur.  As a result now seems to be in terminal decline.

Which betting site does he endorse again?

Keep money in ecosystem for longer via making losing customers “better bettors” via more tips/pundits

ffs

That's brilliant Brendan.

Pretty much the proof we've all needed that they have no clue at all about their own business.

I dont know wether i actually believe if they believe what they are saying, but suppose it is their analyst presentation Confused Seems they are treating analysts as mugs to me.

Credibility is somewhat lacking, they pushed the cash out functionality, the new inplay page and more "community" involvement in there to which you would have to wonder about.

Makes you wonder what utter spew firms we DON'T understand tell us everyday!

ta brendan...made me laugh
Report CLYDEBANK29 • July 3, 2011 2:35 PM BST
what does he mean by "better bettors"?

lose quicker or lose slower or not lose at all?

seriously havent got a clue
Report brendanuk1 • July 3, 2011 2:41 PM BST
churn more I think. Cant see them having help pages about -ve expectation bets or gambling with this weeks rent money.
Report brendanuk1 • July 3, 2011 2:43 PM BST
how you can get more churn than 99.5% markets though? Pick a random one and you get quiet alot back!

Its nonsense really
Report CLYDEBANK29 • July 3, 2011 3:04 PM BST
I see... lose slower so they bet more.  All of their suggestions will make no difference.  The only thing that will make any difference is more competitively priced markets.

You mean that 1000s of people following Andy Gray's tips won't suddenly close the skill gap? Laugh
Report Feck N. Eejit • July 3, 2011 3:08 PM BST
There would be more churn if they lost slower but these charges won't make that happen. Even if everyone affected by the charges left the remaining 20%ers would just take up the slack. An anti-trader/cheat interface would increase churn though.

You mean that 1000s of people following Andy Gray's tips won't suddenly close the skill gap?

Laugh They have a back up plan if Andy Gray doesnt come good, removing 500 people who are most keanly interested in pricing!
Report CLYDEBANK29 • July 3, 2011 3:17 PM BST
the cash out facility will make them lose quicker not slower plus greening or redding out reduces commission...bizarre
Report CLYDEBANK29 • July 3, 2011 3:20 PM BST
The cash out is the lazy persons AND A DUMBED DOWN get out.  Struck me as soon as I saw it meant more cash for margin players and losers would lose quicker.

Does the left hand know what the right hands doing?
Report brendanuk1 • July 3, 2011 3:31 PM BST
they are so proud of it is in their main press release.

http://corporate.betfair.com/investor-relations/~/media/Files/B/Betfair/press-releases/2011/2011-06-29.pdf

Cash Out is a trading tool which helps our customers when betting in-play. It has proved popular, generating a 20% increase in the number of occasions on which customers successfully locked-in a profit during a match.

Whats missing is how it affects BFs bottom line. Must do something positive for them, cross matcher maybe? They are not telling their investors anyway why it would be good for business
Report Lori • July 3, 2011 3:55 PM BST
Surely if they're lowering the difference between a customer's highest and lowest result, they're lowering the commission they take??? Confused
Report CLYDEBANK29 • July 3, 2011 3:59 PM BST
That's why I asked what does he mean by bettor bettors.  It was the conflicting signals that pointed in different directions...the sportsbook, cash out and cross matching will mean the less shrewd lose quicker
Report brendanuk1 • July 3, 2011 4:06 PM BST
Andy Gray is going to advise not cashing out via the cashout button maybe Confused
