Where in heck did that come from?
Is it The BBC trying to be PC?

Glad to see that we still have it as Men's and Women's
on here!

It looks and sounds absolutely ridiculous imo!

I know we say "Ladies and Gentlemen" when formally addressing, as a courtesy, but to call all tennis players
Gentlemen is beyond stupid......or is this for only a select elite of players who live in grand country houses or perhaps ex Doctors , Bankers, Lawyers and so on.

I haven't picked up on whether they are now referring to Women's tennis as "Ladies" but I guess they must be!

So now they will have to extend the same courtesy to football too.

Can you imagine Gentlemen's Football?
When did you last see a gentleman in a fist fight, whilst
yelling abusive expletives, and running around leaving a trail of snot behind him?

Don't people realise that by misusing a word, such as this,
results in it having no meaning whatsoever?

I think it sounds very British.

It's not the Beeb, it's the All England Lawn Tennis, Croquet, Sipping Tea and Poncing About In Grey Morning Suits Club. They call it the "gentleman's championship".
