They are inviting submissions by 30 June.

It's your chance to tell Parliament how crap the Gambling Commission is.

Here is the link:

http://www.parliament.uk/business/committees/committees-a-z/commons-select/culture-media-and-sport-committee/news/committee-announces-new-inquiry-into-gambling/

"The Culture, Media and Sport Committee is today launching a new inquiry into gambling, looking in particular at the implementation and operation of the Gambling Act 2005.

The Committee will be inviting written submissions and requesting views on the following issues:

How effective the Act has been in its core objectives to:

- ensure that gambling is maintained crime-free and conducted in an open and fair manner,
- protect children and vulnerable people from the adverse effects of gambling,
- update the legislative framework with regards to online gambling;

the financial impact of the Act on the UK gambling industry;

the effectiveness of the Gambling Commission since its establishment, and whether it represents good value for money;

the impact of the proliferation of off-shore online gambling operators on the UK gambling sector and what effect the Act has had on this;

why the Act has not resulted in any new licences for casinos or “super” casinos;

the effectiveness of the classification and regulation of gaming machines under the Act;

what impact the Act has had on levels of problem gambling.

How to respond
The Committee is inviting written submissions on the above and other matters relevant to the inquiry. A copy of the submission should be sent by e-mail to cmsev@parliament.uk and should have ‘Gambling’ in the subject line. Submissions should be received by Thursday 30 June 2011."

Last chance to submit your views - I am told it should be OK if you miss today's deadline and email them tomorrow, but given the fact I've had no replies I assume no one is interested. Ho hum.

It's fair to say with respect to the above, completely and utterly useless.

Full tilt poker have had their license removed because they supported, intentionally or unintentionally, money laundering.

That may be a worry to Betfair.

Rocket, thanks for responding. Can you expand upon your first post above? I think the GC are useless re: the fair and open issue - in my experience bookies can do what the hell they like to muck you about if you are an unwanted winning punter, and no one (especially the GC)gives two hoots about it.

I was thinking about the recent mass arrests involving match fixing and how the majority of those matches had several hundreds of grand matched on Betfair alone.
