hi guys, i've built up a nice little pot of cash, gambling mainly on darts, boxing, football and snooker.

basically i need 20k and want to attempt make this from my 4k.

anyone got ideas on the best way to do this? im willing to bet upto the whole 4k if i find the right bets, its just finding them :(

4k evens to turn into 8k

8k evens to turn into 16

then 4k to make 4k = looks so simple like this lol

shame its not

There's no fast easy way to do it, you need time to do it, I would be aiming to make 1% per day on the 4k, in 163 days time you will have reached the 20k target, that's if you can make the 1% per day of course :-)3 even money shots would do it too, but would probably end in tears, one of them would let you down I would say, the drip feed method is so much safer, but takes time to do

I maybe missing something but if you've made a nice pot of cash already then why don't you just continue with what you're doing?

I'd imagine he knows he's just got lucky and knows it wont continue but the all in on even money shots makes me think he'll blow the lot anyway.
I can remember a few years ago my brother in law started betting on here and got to 20k from a couple of hundred in less than three weeks. I told him to withdraw the lot and give up but he refused saying it was easy and in a few more bets he'd be able to pay off his mortgage. I still remember him ringing me up on a sunday lunchtime asking me how long left in the Ajax game as he'd put the lot Shocked on them at 1.2 at home to a relegation threatened team, I can't remember who, he was in tears when i told him the whistle had just gone for ft and it had ended 0-0. To his credit he closed his account and never bet again but he often brings it up at get togethers, the wounds still haven't healed.

Shocked INcredible Buzzer!

Easy to lose a lot very quickly. Should carry on building slowly imo.

Would reccommend £500ish on Pakistan to beat WI at 1.3ish currently tho Happy

ive had my fair share of luck to be honest, placing high stakes on short odds, but with no real strategy. just lumping on.....had wins and losses, but have now decided to bet to a system, and stick to it. The 3 bets at evens are out of the window now.....its just way too risky.....

my aim is to turn my 4k into 20k by end of 2011, so looking to make 16k by then. u think this is achieveable? my calculations arent the best......but i think its approx £80 a day profit.

pingpongpo....1% of 4k is £40 a day, how would i achieve this in just 163 days?

pingpongpo....1% of 4k is £40 a day, how would i achieve this in just 163 days?

I would presume that pingpongpo was suggesting an increase of 1% per day on your original £4000 funds compounded:

Day 1: Start £4000; End £4040 (4000*1.01)
Day 2: Start £4040; End £4080.40 (4040*1.01 = 4000*1.01^2)
...
Day 162: Start £19851.86; End £20050.38 (4000*1.01^162)

thanks jt45.

in theory, this sounds very achievable, i just need need to have the patience to slowly build the pot by £40 per day, and not take on any silly high stakes bets.

what percentage of my balance would be a good starting point to place on each bet u think?

I suspect 0% is optimal

If you can make 1% a day, every day, then you may as well quit everything and start staking tens of thousands.
By:
pingpongpo
When: 23 May 11 21:19
Yes, I forgot to say compounding your bank daily will get you to 20k in around 163 days. 1% per day is not easy to achieve as wicket whisper has made clear, it's achievable but I find anywhere between 0.30% to 0.65% are more realistic figures, all depends how much risk you want to take, keeping the betting bank safe and under control is your first objective.

Here is my thoughts for what there worth. become a good handicapper or look for value for example some teams like man u at home have great records of winning so the strike rate is very high. I like to back in the NBA basketball, here you will find other similar examples of teams that have high strike rates. This is just an example of how your thinking should be

the safest way would be to  increase bank (4000) by 5% a week in 32-33 weeks you would have £20,883
Never risking more than 2-5% of bank on any bet

if you can find someone to tail who has a high strike rate and there are a few on here and other forums then providing you stick to never risking more than 2-5% on any bet you have a good chance of reaching your target
there are some markets like tennis where if you are selective and want to take slightly more risk, but follow a tipster who has a good record and there are a few,but not on here as far as I know you can then risk between 5-8% of your bank on eack bet.

There are manys ways to skin a cat. Remember you wont win on every bet,but if you can control your bankroll and follow a high strike (several different sources) then you have good chance of reaching your target

absolute nonsense
By:

When: 24 May 11 12:40
Well, it's not absolute nonsense really. It's harder to get matched without the market being affected at such levels of staking.

It's easier to make 1% with £2 stakes than £50,000 stakes.

It's easier to make 1% with £2 stakes than £50,000 stakes.

If you have 50k, you don't have to try and achieve 1% a day in one hit.
5 10k bets or 10 5k bets could see you achieve your goal without individual markets being affected.

1% of 50k is £500, £500 can be made from 50 k in 10 1.01 bets at £5000 a turn. Identifying the less volatile markets makes this plausible.
