My mate runs an independent bookmakers but numbers of people coming into shop has decreased over last few years..
What marketing ideas can he use to increase numbers..?
Reckon he needs to create Facebook page etc but what else..
I was thinking of leaflet campaign offering free bet with the leaflet and when they come into shop have data capture form to harvest email and mobile numbers for further campaigns..
There are few local companies/factories nearby and also new housing estate..one or two pubs also
I know its sign of times etc but just wondering what experts on here could suggest ...
Facebook is a very powerful marketing tool when used correctly, I started a business an used facebook to increase marketing although mine was a web based business but facebook can be a very powerful tool as you can target a lot of people in the target market very easily, also because of the modern world we live in facebook is a website that people are constantly signed into or have an app on there phone so your friend could send messages to facebook offering a deal or bet of the day and they would get that direct to their phones laptops, which might help,
Through doing this myself sending messages out i increased turnover massively!

tie up with the pubs nearby.. start a rewards card where the spend in pub or in your shop gives them points that can be used in either of these establishments...
offer better odds during lunch hour when office workers can visit..
if u r doing leaflets do it for big games. for example next weeks's champions league final or for derby race... Paddy Power have marketed themselves well.. give the punters a feel that they cannot lose and offer horrible odds...
or the best marketing tool.. install FOBT and start roulette tournaments.. they will come in hordes..

thanks ... Facebook is massive if used correctly...
quite few people have mentioned FOBT roulette tournaments but how exactly do they work... ?
Is it just 5 free spins to see who can win the most..?

Yea make sure its set up an is constantly used an updated, make sure there is a proper page set up an messages are sent out, also offering specials to friends of facebook is a good way to drum up some more business,
theres local offices about? how about inter office tournaments to, like sweepstakes and add some rivalry with the offices everybody likes that! a friend of mine set up a football sweepstake every week against the company across the road from them works well, maybe your friend could offer vouchers for free bets in his shop for the winner?

Free prediction contests (Whether horses, soccer, whatever) are always good because people are scared to not back their selections in case they all come in.

I've only been in a bookies once years ago, so don't know what they're like these days, but do they look after their customers by having free mugs of tea/coffee, sandwiches etc? A box of tea bags and a loaf of bread don't cost the earth, if one bookie offered that and the others didn't I know which one most mugs would go to.

Sounds good doesn't it but doesn't really pan out; the mugs prefer to stay in Ladbrokes with the brain dead cashier who doesn't thinks Denman is a football team because they think an indy will go skint and knock them when they win their 13-timer acca.
