We will now cancel unmatched bets in the following instances:
Unmatched bets on markets which are In-Play at any time during an outage. Bets which, when an outage ends, are unmatched on horse and greyhound races that are due to take place within the next 20 minutes; also, financial markets bets which are unmatched at the start of an outage. These markets are included because they are particularly volatile and are subject to notable odds fluctuations. Bets which, at the moment betting is disabled, are unmatched on outright winner markets where there may be material price changes due to related In-Play events. For example, a tennis tournament winner market when a tournament semi-final is taking place at the time an outage begins.
i dont think anyone can argue this is a good thing alex.it can only give people more confidence knowing that bets will not be matched during down times and alliviate a lot of stress for the bigger players.

It looks like they still will not cancel keep bets on inplay markets !! I'm sure a 5 year old would understand the reasoning for cancelling them bets too when there's an unplanned outage.

Sorry for my tardier than normal reply time, but wanted to be sure what I told you was correct. Here's what I have been told about Keep Bets:
'As things stand, Keep Bets are not being cancelled when an outage occurs - however, we are aware of the depth of feeling among customers about this, and therefore we are using various methods to collect customer opinion and once we are confident we know what customers want us to do, we'll make a further decision.
'We've taken all the comments on this thread, and others, and will include them alongside our other forms of canvassing opinion. As soon as we are in a position to tell you what the decision is, we'll announce it in all the channels as we did yesterday.'

Thanks for that BCM2. It surely has to be a no brainer to cancel those as well, I really don't understand the mentality of anybody that would want them kept.
I expect Eddie to implode fairly shortly.

Ah yes BCM2. If RttF was not referring to that then that is a real puzzler. It is almost as if betfair fottball top management could be described as intransigent. It really very difficult to understand the reason for this in the first place, the reasons provided just don't stand up to scrutiny and any credible explanation has been absent.

Since you are supposedly canvassing opinion on this then I would say it would be incredibly sensible to cancel keep bets if the site goes down and remains down when a game/event has gone in-play.
Of course if you could make sure that when the site comes back up i am the first person that is able to get onto the relevant market so i could go and cancel my bet which is now completely at the wrong odds as it is 3-0 in the 75th minute rather than 0-0 at 0 minutes then that would also be ok.

BCM, I think you know where I stand on this one and I can't see any logic in not cancelling keep bets on inplay markets when there's an outage. I don't think anyone using keep bets would want them to remain in the markets when the site is back up.

Rocket - Correct Score Keep Bets is still very much on my radar. Your reminder nudged me to chase it again. I'm hopeful of progress but don't want to say too much.
All - may open a thread in General Betting later for a simple 'Cancel Keep Bets in an outage - yes or no'. Means some of you would have to post again, but I'm sure you'd rather that and be sure I can get everyone's voice heard.

Please do BCM2. Frankly it is beyond belief that Betfair Towers have any doubt about this.
As far as CS keep markets are concerned, there must me an ever growing suspicion about the motives for that.

i can understand betfair's point of view on keep bets. i like to lay unders at 1.0x and leave as 'keep' and eventually it will get matched unless overs have been unconditionally determined. would be a bit annoyed if this bet got cancelled only for a game to have late goals.
Also there are people that indiscriminately lay everything at 1.01 and leave as keep bets. You can imagine the outcry: 'Why wasnt my lay of Arsenal matched when they were 4-0 up at Newcastle' . "oh we cancelled it for your own good"

diggler, would you like that bet to be in the market if there was an outage and the site came back online in the 90th minute with the score being 0-0 ?

no eddie i would not, but i would if it was 1-1 with 10 minutes left. i am just trying to make the point that there would be times when people did not want their keep bets cancelling.

where does it say that they would not cancel keep bets anyway during an outage. There is no specification - just says we will cancel unmatched bets. So would that include keep bets anyway?

The simple answer to "Why wasnt my lay of Arsenal matched when they were 4-0 up at Newcastle" would just be "because when the site came back up and Arsenal were 4-0 up you couldn't be bothered to log on to the market and offer up a lay bet on Arsenal".
These people still have the opportunity to go in and then offer up these bets again when the site does come back up.

Did you ever go about canvassing opinion on this subject anywhere on the forum or did you decide not to bother in the end?
Cheers

I haven't done anything that formal yet as from this thread and others I have seen or posted on I think I can tell that the majority here would prefer us to cancel keep bets.

Are you at liberty to be able to divulge if this issue is being actively reviewed or is it just a noting of comments?
If it is being actively reviewed and it is decided to leave it will we be informed of this decision?
Cheers.

My understanding is that the feedback I have supplied from here is being added to feedback via things like focus groups and surveys, and then a decision will be made.
Either way, I would expect there to then be an announcement of that decision which would be shared on here.

For horses, I wd like the option of having 'keep IR' reverting to 'Take SP' (however determined) in the case of an outage. If I've put the position up as a trade, I want it traded and my liability limited.
A bigger issue to me than this is seeing what I have bet in the event of an outage. In the event of the betting functionality going, bf must not disable the site so that it's impossible to see what bets you have on.
