I am trying to import some scores into excel but the scores keep getting converted into datas. I have tried to set the column to a text field pre import but this seems to get overridden. Is there a work around?
I am using http://stats.football365.com/dom/ENG/teams/ManchesterUtd.html and all there results this season table.
i tried formatting cells before pasting as text and pasting as text (but this lost other formatting.
I have found a solution which simply converts the dates back to original numbers.
If anyone has a better solution I would be grateful.
My work around is this.... Go to cell you want to change back and type the following.....
=TEXT(Cell,"D/M")
Where
Cell is A4 etc D is Date M in Month / is just what appears. I'm using cricket scores. So 4/1 etc. You could use - etc too.
D and M are interchangable too.

SquirrelJ - I use Open Office Calc but this worked for me from the link you posted.
Highlight the rows/lines of match info you want to import. Right click on a blank spot within the highlighted text and click on Copy
Go to your spreadsheet, go to the cell where you want to paste the data, right click, click on Paste Special and then on Unformatted text.
In the Text Import window that appears check the Separated by Tab and Quoted field as text boxes and format the Date field in the column containing the dates to Date (DMY).
Finally, click on OK.
As I say, I'm using an Open Office Calc spreadsheet but you should be able to do something similar to what I've described above.
Good luck.
