I would reconsider that whole Plan cause you will need all your Profits to bribe yourself out of your local Thai Prison after they caught you gambling over there.... :)

Hi,
I live in Hong Kong but spend 2-3 months in Thailand. It is a great place to live. 1. Phuket speeds are pretty good too, not sure about the north but if you are in one of the major cities i see no reason why it wont be a reasonable speed. 2. You can watch english and european football live. i-cable carry the premiership (every game is live) and the bundesliga (selected matches only, normally 2-3 each weekend) and Star sports (on now tv) carry the la liga matches (around 80% of the games are shown live) and serie A matches (around 40% of the games are shown live). I-cable also carry selected europa league games and the champions league games. One of the only problems can sometimes be the time difference, particularly for evening kick-offs in europe which often means getting out of bed at 3am in the morning. There is a small delay in the pictures compared to europe around 1 second. 3. Betting is prohibited in Thailand and HK. I use a UK VPN which costs around 10 quid a month but hides your IP. As long as you maintain UK accounts fro transferring your money into and out of betfair and use a VPN you should have no issues. Generally using the VPN means you have an additional 1-2 second delay with everything that you send and receive through it so you will have some delay to overcome with your betting. Having said that i know people here (HK) that continue to use uk betting sites without using a VPN or proxy and they have never had any problems. I just hope that they don't get caught although being a foreigner they will probably just plead ignorance if they do! Hope that helps. |

What about the VPN, I guess that slows down betting further compared to betting from the UK?

RitzyDelandro, thank you so much for this information!!! I don't know your betting strategy, but this 1 second delay affects your betting or not? How much time you spend betting? Thanks again!

Yes Investor - as i said the vpn adds around 1-2 seconds extra. It is not really a massive problem for me as i generally bet on football and take prices before the kick-off - i do little trading during the games (although in honesty i should probably do more!). I probably spend around 8-12 hours a week betting as i only bet on the English, German, French, Italian and Spanish top divisions and most of that time is research. On an average weekend i may only have 3-6 bets that i make.

OH yes ritzy, I see you already answered that. What about being a different country? Doesn't that also add a delay? I would imagine for instance that if you were in Canada, access to betfair would be a little slower.

Hello, I have been living in London for the past 20 years. I plan to go back to Thailand permanently next year. Currently, I also use Betfair to bet on football. Please let me know if you managed to trade football with Betfair in Thailand. Thank you for your time. Fa Woon

Yes, use a VPN and connect it to the UK and BF will work as normal.
