I WAS TOLD EDGE IS
MONEY WON X 100 DIVIDE BY MONEY RISKED |

I'm struggling to get anything meaningful out of this calculation?????

The % you would return on top of your stakes long term

this is perhaps where the problem lies in calculating the value. One of the edges has an almost limitless percentage return in the short term, but the lifespan of the edge is uncertain.
For the other edge it is perhaps easier to calculate it's value using the calculation, however, over what period of time do I need to apply the calculation in order to arrive at a full valuation? |

depends what the average odds are
If the average odds are Evens or so then a few hundered bets could be a reliable indication of the long term expectation, if it was 100/1 then you would maybe need 10,000 bets to evaluate it |

I don't think I explained myself correctly. I KNOW I have an edge but the future lifespan of at least one of the edges is most probably limited so my question is really, what length of future time can I use to calculate it's current value.

421 days.
What odds are you playing at? If you're backing 10.0 shots at 12.0 then you have 2 stakes profit per bet divided by 10; 0.2 or 20%. |
