Seems like a case of following the French law to the french letter to me.

I expect that you will get some experts on French law along to answer this but what do you think?

I'd think (just my opinion though!) you should be OK if you have a UK address and BF can verify you and that you live at that address, it'd be a bit mad otherwise BUT BF might (or at a guess more likely a french BANK might) block you putting money into BF from a French bank / credit card? So that might be a problem that if that's all you had.
Just my opinion but the above seems common sense, the French gov don't OWN you .. yet ?Bit of shame they did that. THere's a post about it on the service forum I think. |

How can a french law be valid for betfair which is registered in Gibraltar(i think)? is this EU related matter?
|
|
By:
It's not that the french are specifically targeting Betfair, I believe it's they're trying to monopolise control of any gambling they allow within France. Netherlands have tried the same. BF have already been to court on such issues, if you search the web you'll find articles on it.

Easiest way is to test it out, if it works get a uk proxy for when your back in France

It's legal to bet on Betfair whilst in the UK, providing you are over the age of 18, irrespective of nationality. It is not legal to bet on Betfair whilst in France, irrespective of nationality. So, if I go on holiday to France, I can't bet there. Simple as.
It's about jurisdiction. Jurisdiction is about where you are, not where you're from. Using a UK proxy might get you through the technical barriers, but it doesn't make it any less illegal. |
