whats the best approach in your opinion?

I'll split it up into 2 categories the slow or gung ho. i like to call it the milan or real but we'll call it slow or gung ho. these approaches can relate to any sport but I'll use racing as an example.

1.the gung ho approach (real madrid)

they score 4 we'll score 5 attitude.
this involves lots of bets, i see a horse trading at say 10's inrunning now i might not think the horse will win but i'm sure it will trade at say 7's as its going well and will more than likely be backed into a lower price whether it wins or not doesn't matter in this approach the price is too big so it gets backed.using this style there's lots of bets to be had maybe one in every 2 races. you might also see something travelling well at say 20's and think it should be say 14's so I'll back it thus obviously giving you plenty of losers but after 100's of bets if value then a profit.the profit and loss graph could be majorly up and down on any given day/week/.

2. the slow approach (milan)

we're keeping it tight and being lethal in front of goal attitude.
this involves hardly any bets. maybe 1 or 2 in every 40 races, some days there might not be any bets at all.i sit all day watching the racing and see horses at bigger prices than they should be but i'm not convinced they will win so although they look like value i leave them waiting patiently for my chance giving nothing away. after ten or so races without a bet i see a horse covered up in the pack travelling supremely well, the jockeys pulling double the horse is trading at 5's i think its the winner never mind going to trade a point or two lower this is winning so i back it. again whether it wins or not doesnt matter i thought at the time it would and was happy with the price.the day finishes after 30+ races I've had one bet yet seen a dozen value bets in the day maybe even missing one or two winners.
the profit and loss figures are slow but steady with no major ups or downs.

what approach is best? could staking come in to it? do i lower my stakes and go gung ho or up my stakes and go slow?
