I am thinking of going to India for 6 months,  has anyone any experience of using Betfair over there ?

I would have to use a dongle, assuming reception was possible.

I have been able to access bf no problem from both a dongle and in  internet hotspots.

Betting is illegal in India, though the actual law says next to nothing about the mechanics of striking or laying bets. Proceed on a caveat emptor basis and maybe look into betting through your home pc if you want to feel sure of being able to appeal to rules in case of dispute.

Apparently Betfair opens accounts for indians and so it cant really be a problem after all,   and being with HSBC is probably an advantage for transfering money,  so I will go for it.

cheers.

NOT true, I had a very enjoyable day at the races in Bangalore where thousands of people were betting zillions of rupees openly with bookies.
Cricket betting is illegal but easily available where they bet to surprisingly low overrounds - about 105% usually

Betting from the UK seems to be an issue these days..

I wish BF had an exhaustive list of all countries you can and can't bet from, I had a look myself a while ago and couldn't find one, it's a common question on the forum by looks of things?
