Nice joining date!

Not much. Try 2%.
Report The Investor January 30, 2011 7:13 PM GMT

Whatever you are comfortable with really depends on your situation and what you can afford to lose. A grand for some people is worth alot more than for others. If you're having a bit of fun then it would probably be more than if you're testing a new system, although I sense that you wouldn't ask this question if you just wanted to have some fun bets.

Stay within your comfort zone I suppose that way you will avoid chasing and any other nasty habits.

To expand on what I said earlier:

Bet the minimum stake allowed (£2). If you can quantify your edge, start using Kelly (only applicable if you're placing straight bets, which I guess you are).

I lack the skill, or will, to attempt to fully quantify my edge..... I guess that means I don't bet to maximum efficiency. Ah well, I do ok. Mischief

If you're looking for real advice, google Kelly Criterion.

It is conceivable to go on a "double figured" losing run even betting on EVEN money chances so i would only risk no more than 2%...
