i only mention it because today i was about to lay a score and it dawned on me i was offering 300 on the wrong score where 100 was required and someone was about to collect it ,so i had to decide what to do .
....so i had no option other to unplug

I'm glad it's there. Except when you're backing, in which case it's a bit pointless.
You can close down your browser, and it doesn't go through. Bit better than shutting down the PC, but still a nuisance.

Depends what operating system you have. Go into windows task manager by hitting CTRL+ALT+DEL
or in Windows 7 CTRL+SHIFT+ESC
Search for firefox, or whatever browser you are using and hit 'end process'.

"You are about to have your entire balance on an event and it is after 0pm GMT - Have you been drinking?"
Bayes, I was thinking of going on Dragon's Den with a breathalyzer for PC's.
"Hello, my name is SHAPESHIFTER. I'm here to ask for £100,000 for a 20% share in my new technology that I call NAWD-OFF
"NAWD stands for 'Not Allowed when Drunk'
"We've all come home from the pub after a Friday night with the boys. We've talked sports then come home with what everyone has agreed is a 'sure winner'.
"With nothing but 8 pints and six over-cooked wings in our stomachs, we've sat down to the computer and in our minds eye, have had a £5 each way flutter on an 10-1 shot in a seller at Haydock.
"After being woken by the missus at 9 and a reminder that we're having lunch at her sisters, we head off for the day.
"It is not till we return at 5:30 that it dawns on us that we placed a bet last night before bed. We go to the results to see that the horse came in 3rd for a place.
"We log on to see what the place paid only to discover that not only had we bet £50 instead of £5, we had placed it on win only.
"A further look at our account finds we had lost a further $400 on random bets on racing in California, Philadelphia and Florida.
"NAWD-OFF eliminates this betting risk.
"After 8PM any evening of the week, you simply blow into this tube and if you are above 'the limit', it will lock you out all betting sites till you are sober.
"Thank you. I will now answer any questions you have."
"Hi SHAPESHIFTER, my name is James. Let me tell you where I stand before you go further. I have to declare myself out for religious reasons"
"Hi SHAPESHIFTER, my name is Deborah. As brilliant as it sounds, I have absolutely no idea about gambling and alcohol so I'm out."
"Hi SHAPESHIFTER, my name is Theo. Could I blow into it?"
"Sure" Theo comes up and blows into it harder and harder trying to break it. He can't and goes back to his seat impressed with how well its built
"Hi SHAPESHIFTER, my name is Peter. As you know, I'm involved in technology and my entire team never came up with this idea so I can't see it working. Therefore, I am out"
"Hi SHAPESHIFTER", says Duncan....pause....."I like your idea. I can see how it works but have you talked to any manufacturers?"
"PC World have said they will stock it during the lead up to Cheltenham".
"Have you talked to the betting industry?"
"Actually, Duncan, the problem has been that they are actually lobbying to have the technology banned in the UK. They have presented documents to the government showing that 40% of their gross revenue is made from bets placed between 11PM and 2AM prior to Saturday's football and racing."
"As well, what happens if I wake my wife and she blows in it for me?"
"Most gamblers would have trouble getting their wife to agree"
"What if I put it in my dog's mouth?"
"Um, er, I'm not sure. I'm, well, it might get you around it...."
All the dragon's are impressed with Duncan's revelation as he looks sly from below his implanted hair. "So my dog could bypass the security"
"A cat wouldn't"
"But...a dog would"
SHAPESHIFTER, slightly resigned. "Yes, a dog could."
"SHAPESHIFTER, I can see this as a major flaw and for that reason, I'm out."
EPILOGUE: After Dragon's Den, SHAPESHIFTER had 5,000 units at a cost of £15 each manufactured and imported from China.
By Cheltenham, he had sold 16, mainly to family that don't gamble.

I've found that the easiest thing to do is kill the internet connection before clicking on OK. When on a wireless connection just switch it off and if on wired connection just unplug the wire. Just wait a few seconds before switchingon/plugging in again and you'll be fine. The whole operation will only take 10 - 15 seconds if time is essential. Just try it with a high price on something priced low and you will both see how easy this is and be able to do it fast when that is necessary.

Glad I could bring a chuckle into this dismal January blahness and now for something completely different:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sv3tadz5Q3o&feature=player_embedded
For people who still have confirm on (which I do) it actually works very well as it's BETWEEN the original submit click and the confirm click. It's saved me a couple times when my 10 thumbs in a rush have been silly, so I keep confirm on.
Oh and to clobber firefox, if it's the active program, alt-f4 would I imagine be the quickest way, it's standard close app you're looking at.
